Is it any wonder that teenagers are so confused? Believe me, they may be wearing those silver rings indicating their commitment to abstinence, but the coin of the realm is sex, so their definitions of abstinence mean ANYTHING goes except vaginal penetration.

4. patrice you are soooooo right

I had a best friend (we don't talk anymore siggghhh) who is a Christian like me, and it seemed his idea was that as long as he wasn't penetrating a girl it was ok. I think he believes differently now, and he's very attractive and could be using women, but pretty sure he's doing right by the ladies, I was just so surprised to see that mentality out there from people that say they believed in abstinence. But, also, what that person said about seeing a preacher-pimp his daughters and, in one way, these people preaching abstinence and on the other side of the coin, doing THIS stuff... it's just sooooo sad and explains why so many teens/young adults ARE confused and doing all kinds of stuff that eventually harms them. We need a new leader, I truly believe that Kerry will reflect a positive new "moralism" in America and won't be so preachy about it.. anyhow, I'm sorry, I'm rambling!

I saw and heard a LOT, because kids felt they could talk to me.

I live in a huge family with many teenagers and 20-somethings. It's very clear what is going on.

The damage done to both boys and girls is hidden by these "nice" middle-class religious exteriors.

I love it ... "preacher/pimp" ... says it all. If you caught any of Ashlee's making of the album reality show on MTV (I have teenagers), where she whines about her integrity as an artist, and how she doesn't want to be a pop singer like her sis ... funny as heck to see daddy pimp in the studio, flaying his arms, trying to rock out ... definitely a white boy with no rhythm. I don't think they're from Cincy (that's Jessica's hubby Nick ... and why he keeps getting invited to host all sorts of Cincy events) ... the Simpson's are Texas tarts.

My daughter has friends that went to catholic school K-8th and then into public school. Both the catholic girls (and their mom) were constantly telling my daughter how she's going to hell since "she doesn't believe" ... all the while, both Catholic girls are mega-sluts, doing anyone with a penis, and were quite open about it to everyone but their parents. OK, so my daughter is going to hell since she doesn't believe in your particular brand of god, but you don't see anything wrong with the all sucking/f-ing you're doing? We gave the mom a head's up that her little girls were sexually active and the response was denial. But, soon after, the girls had their first ever visits to a gynecologist and one of the girls had a fecal infection in her vagina ... good little girl, in the heat of passion, was letting boyfriend ...um, how can I say this without offending everyone ... enter/switch between both ports without cleaning or changing condoms (I hope they were using condoms). Mom still in denial ... "oh, she wasn't wiping correctly after using the restroom" ... yeah, sure, guess it was a 17 year build up of not wiping correctly.
