weighted map by population?
Can someone geekier than me create a weighted map, so the size of the red and blue states appears proportional to their population?

Or, can you suggest how it could be done? I was thinking, in a 3d graphics app you could attach weights matching the populations to a skin, to morph the graphic.

1. I've been looking for one of these too....

Maybe made like the one posted here earlier with the red/blue shaded to appropriate shades of purple.....

A clear, graphic representation of what just happened here.
(and a good argument against the electoral college)

11. population cartograms (or isodemographic maps)
Edited on Fri Nov-05-04 04:50 PM by Lisa
Those are the technical terms used by geographers, as an alternative to the standard "choropleth" map where the actual land area is used and the jurisdictions shaded in. The best examples have already been posted here. The Globe and Mail featured a blocky but still recognizable cartogram on its front page earlier this week (don't think it's available in electronic form though) and the Guardian had one online in 2000 and again this year.
