NPR: Sarin found in Fallujah?
Edited on Thu Nov-11-04 05:58 AM by MrMonk
I'm posting this in GD because I can't find a linked article.

During a live report from Iraq, at about 5 am, it was stated that Iraqi troops in Fallujah had discovered a briefcase containing vials of Sarin. The vials were labeled in English, and it had not been determined where they may have come from. A U.S. officer was cited as saying that the vials were WMD and justified the war.

I say that the vials were planted, if they even exist. Prove me wrong.

On edit: Why would the insurgents have left this stuff behind when they left the city? Certainly not because of the hazard of transporting Sarin. As I recall, Sarin is packaged as two separate components which must be mixed and immediately dispersed. Were both components found?

5. I really don't think that proves WMD...
If, going by their logic, the insurgents they are fighting are not native Iraqis, but rather AL-qaida operatives, then that would mean that more than likely the Sarin was brought into the country. Of course, the implications of this would be that Al-Qaida has access to significant quantities of Sarin gas, which, needless to say, is pretty troubling.

7. I heard they took an Iraqi prisoner in Fallujah who had dozens of vials
of adrenalin which it appears they had been using to stay charged for the fighting.

Haven't heard a word on Sarin.

Thanks for the info.

8. Thanks for that info
It wouldn't surprise me if the adrenaline story was passed around until the stuff turned into Sarin.

9. VIALS of sarin are not WMD
you need a way to disperse the sarin over a large population in order to be a wmd. this has been covered in many threads and articles.

if all your have is a vial in a briefcase, then you couldn't kill any more people than you could kill with a briefcase full of c4 explosives. in fact, if you placed the c4 well, you could probably kill more.....

in any event, it's been far too long since saddam got the boot. the sarin could have come from anywhere, been planted or brought in by terrorists. they'd have a very difficult time tying it to saddam.

well, other than by innuendo, which they're very good at....

10. If they have sarin gas...why aren't they using it?
Bullshit. I don't believe it...not yet anyway. might turn out to be like the tons of mustard gas on that turkey farm.
