I'm going to be interviewed tomorrow by a local paper-please help
I am going to be interviewed tomorrow by a major NC paper in response to my emails to them regarding voter fraud. My wife took the call while I was at work and I am to call them in the morning so I don't know more than that.

Please help me if you would regarding suggestions, facts, etc. to help substantiate our contentions. I have been keeping a file labeled " fraud" with many examples of fraud but would welcome more.

Of particular interest is Ignatmouse's post regarding NC anomalies. I have the original post however if any of the data is updated or if there is more relevent data then please advise. Are you out there tonight Ignatmouse?

Lastly, in the interest of persauding as many people as possible to be activist in turning back electronic voting and suporting paper ballots I would greatly appreciate inspirational quotes regarding voter integrity. I would like to appeal to liberals, moderates and conservatives for change.

Thank you in advance for your help!

1. Here is the link to the latest editorial by William Rivers Pitt.

There are a lot of voter discrepancy facts in there. You might want to check out the whole website: truthout.org

Good Luck!

2. be sure...
...to work in the URL for democratic underground and plug Keith Olbermann's program Countdown on MSNBC. People can get more information there.

Election integrity isn't a partisan issue. Those who fear the idea of a President Hillary Clinton should be actively involved in the fight for open, fair elections.

Good luck! Relax. You'll be great. You have righteousness on your side.

6. Yeah. Be relaxed and friendly.
Here are a few ideas:

--Review this thread and see if anything looks helpful - 7 Items for your Tool Kit -- to Get the Vote Back!
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=203&topic_id=70449&mesg_id=70449

--Also, you could go to www.votersunite.org and review their state-by-state articles of mishaps in this election -- I'm sure NC is packed with them.

--Make a list of a handful of points you want to get across. If the interview veers off into fruitless areas, be sure to get those points in regardless of the questions.

5. Josef Stalin:
"It's not the people who vote that count. It's the people who count the votes."

(someone was bound to post it, might as well be me!)

8. Another point that is good to make....
One simple question: Would Republicans sit back and allow this nation's elections to be decided by electronic machines SOLELY owned and PROGRAMMED by Democratic supporters without any transparency for the citizens?

9. Sorry...but incompetence != fraud :(
I'm a proud northeastern Democrat and what I'm about to tell you has seemed to rub a lot of my fellow Democrats the wrong way. However, I've yet to see any blatant, hardcore examples of fraud. Believe me, I've been scouring the internet looking at numerous sources to see if something jumps out as "fraud". I'd love if you could share your "fraud" file with us - maybe you can prove me wrong!

What I can tell you (as a computer scientist/programmer) is that the code reviews of the various voting systems have shown massive flaws in security, design, and functionality. I've personally ripped apart one of the systems (Diebold GEMS) and it's horrible. Anyway, this leads me to conclude that the majority of voter anomalies we've witnessed are simply due to bad software (incompetence). Was there the possibility that someone could hack these systems and commit fraud? YES! Do we have proof? NO (or none that I know of).

Maybe I'm too much of a pragmatist!

11. I appreciate the sentiment of your response and the fact that you
Edited on Mon Nov-22-04 10:01 PM by In Truth We Trust
responded. Perhaps each anomalie on it's own can be discounted individually however it is my contention that taken as a whole in consideration of the historic precedence going into this election that any person with an adequate i.q. can only surmise fraud.

I would be happy to share my file with you but since you have already stated that you have " scoured " the internet in search of fraud then you almost assuredly have seen what I have.

Thanks

15. like I said...
What I posted isn't something a lot of people want to hear. I understand the desire to find the "smoking gun" but so far nothing concrete has been found. It'd be interesting if something was found that could prove (in a court of law) that someone committed fraud.

I won't take your IQ statement as a personal attack - I have an above average IQ. I cannot simply make a blanket statement, however, that fraud took place knowing what I do about software. The types of problems that were reported across the nation with these machines fall in-line with my theory that the software simply sucks. Nothing more, nothing less.

Regardless, I'm on your side - I want to see accountability and transparency in our voting systems!

Good Luck!

17. I'm glad your on the right side on this and also glad you did not take
the i.q. comment personally as it most positively was not. I am actually surprised how anyone could even entertain that thought when it is read in context.

What do you think about the "errors" always being in *'s favor?

20. some more..
Not ALL issues were actually reported to be in Bush's favor, for example, "..New Mexico Republicans complained at Bush-Cheney headquarters in Albuquerque that Sandoval County e-voting machines switched their Bush votes to Kerry. One Republican candidate for judge found he couldn't vote for himself at first."

http://www.votersunite.org/electionproblems.asp?offset=0&catid=&showall=&sort=

Unfortunately, the actual reported cases of fraud seem to be few and the first couple I read are actually accusing democrats as the ones committing the fraud :( -->

Later!

13. I have considered that as well. That is why I am requesting
suggestions that would help appeal to a crossover audience of all political stripes. I don't think they will give me "editorial" approval so I want to stay focused and pre-empt such spin.

Idea's?

There! You should be able to cull plenty of hard evidence from there.

If you've got a good connection, you might want to show them Votergate.TV: http://www.votergate.tv/

Here is one link, all I did was a google on charlotte observer north carolina election 2004 problems.

http://www.charlotte.com/mld/charlotte/news/special_packages/election2004/10078192.htm?1c

Here is another good link to a vote watch web site which list many events in the state of NC:

http://vote2004.eriposte.com/swingstates/northcarolina.htm

Try these out for more state news.

Go get them and spread the good word, the vote must count or democracy dies with it.
