Where are China and India in regard to energy research?
our standard of living was built on cheap and plentiful energy, mostly oil- but coal played/plays a big part as well- and now China and India are poised to make large socio-economic changes to their ways of life...but their energy isn't going to be as cheap and plentiful as it was for us, although they are both a lot closer to the spigot than us.

there's just not gonna be enough to go around for very long.

India is heavily invested in nuclear energy- but to what future?

it would seem that with their well-educated tech sectors, both China and India would be vigorously researching new energy technologies, as opposed to the */Cheney "Oil is the past-present-&future" mindset...but i haven't seen much as far as if that is actually happening...

Does anyone have any info or links to what kind of research they're doing, or advances they've made- if any ?

2. I have no links
but it makes sense that Japan and Germany, having no oil of their own, would be leading the way on alternative energy sources. They have the technology and a bit of a head start in intellectual capital; but I wouldn't be surprised to see India and China progressing rapidly on this front.
