Favorite New Activism Techniques :: Business Cards
Recently, I went over to http://vistaprint.com/ and made myself a bunch of business cards. However, these were not normal "business" cards. These cards had a message about the rigged (s)election of 2004. I got 250 of these made, and I've found that it's so easy to be an activist nowp.

The business cards are small, so you can carry a bunch of them in your back pocket, and you can sneak them in anywhere.

  • In the train, drop a couple in a few random seats and watch as random strangers ponder your message.
  • Whenever you're at the gas station, wedge a few business cards into the gas pumps. The next gas guzzler to pull up will then have to consider the consequences of his actions.
  • At newspaper stands, slip the business cards into the papers so that whoever buys the paper will get a truly alternative viewpoint.

These are so ridiculously easy to distribute, so I encourage everyone to try this out.

It's so easy to get started. VistaPrint.com will even GIVE YOU the business cards for free if you agree to let them put a small plug to their site on the cards that you order.

It's totally worth trying -- it costs you nothing and it's good for your karma!

(PS: Happy New Year, everybody -- Keep fighting the good fight (nonviolently (of course)))

Peace.

2. The Graphical Representation
This is not a scan but rather a preview image from the business card builder at vistaprint.

I've been putting these business cards in conspicuous places for a couple of weeks, now, and it's about time for me to make some more business cards.

Everyone check out http://vistaprint.com . They will make your business cards FOR FREE. (...do it...for great justice...take off every zig ...;-)

4. This is BRILLIANT!
I just made some up. I "quoted" you heavily (as we say in the artworld...which is just a nice way of saying I pretty much stole your stuff outright.) but changed a few things.

Thank you for this idea. I live in a red area in NC. We've had a number of news stories about the Gaston Co. fiasco and people are aware of the problem on a small scale.

I'll put a few of these in the local library, ...oooo, in popular fiction and large print books.... This is great. Thanks so much.

8. I can't take credit for the idea.
It was something that was suggested in passing at the Freewayblogging yahoo group.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Freewayblogging/

There wasn't much discussion about it, but I decided to try it out and I've never looked back.
