Another thing that's about to make my brain explode -- Tsunami v. Mammon
Edited on Mon Jan-03-05 01:24 PM by Cats Against Frist
Does anyone besides myself find it terribly ironic that the right-wing blogs are poking fun at the Tsunami thread, where it was suggested that bombing Iraq might be responsible for the Tsunami, when the right wing supports mythology that suggests a money-loving, angry Jesus, and a schizophrenic God created a nation that worships naked celebrities and McDonald's to lead the world, and created the world that contains that nation, in SIX DAYS????

I mean, when it comes right down to it -- saying that bombing Iraq caused the Tsunami is no more insane than claiming that there is a supernatural diety, and that the Bible is the true word of this diety, and that an unscrupulous diamond miner, sexist, homophobic lunatic and a fat, self-righteous windbag, and a projecting, dog & child beating radio woman-hater shall lead the followers to their rightful cardboard house in the treeless cul-de-sac, where they will die from a disease of excess, unhappy and hating themselves...

I'm not saying I believe the Tsunami thing -- just that we need to get some perspective on this.

24 hr. sound bombing the ocean floor looking for oil should not be discounted in any tsunami discussion.

7. It just makes me crazy that the "Money God & Golden America" Construct
Bullshit is taken as reality by the right-wing -- whom I believe is not just trying to re-create nobles and peasants, but, coupled with Dominionism (God smiles down and blesses the rich, ergo, the rich are divinely blessed), is trying to create an absolutist narrative for the superiority of the upper class.

That sounds every bit as hokey to me as any theory I've ever heard.

8. Don't take the derision personally
The Christians who have abandoned the peaceful message of Christ the first coming and have instead embraced a desire for mass destruction, violence and death do not represent the majority of the Christian faith, and in fact do not even represent the majority of fundamentalist or orthodox Christianity.

The people who have attempted to reconcile Bush and his racist wars with Biblical import have fallen under the sway of uber-marketing, future shock and cognitive decline. They have lost much of their capacity for free thought, and to varying degrees live only for the destruction of the 'end times' that they believe is theirs by right.

They will attack all who oppose in every means they have available, regardless consequence. They don't need your theory to belittle and attack you, they just need to know you're THERE.

Take heart. All possibilities must be considered to arrive at the truth.
