So I'm watching Gov. Groper make a speech about how he
can't balance the budget unless we change the way we do the budget, or in other words, who cares about the California constitution. Did he run on the premise that Gov. Davis was too stupid to open the buuks and find all the lost money that he overlooked. Now he says the problem isn't the revenue we collect but how we spend it. So here it comes more poor and disabled people thrown out on the streets to become homeless just like Reagan did decades before.

:puke: :puke: :puke:

Oh now teacher's pay will be on tenure not merit and they will be paid for working not showing up.

:puke: :puke: :puke:

"This is the battle of the special interests vs. the children's interest." Is this statement, not an oxymoron?

:argh:

1. Now the stupid ass wants affordable housing.
If he increased property taxes on the rich, like Warren Buffett suggested to him, that would drive down the cost of real estate and create the revenues to balance his budget. But as a stupid Republican he can't see the forest for the trees.

Does the RNC give out I. Q. tests to join? Do they reject you if you are too smart?

2. Increased tax of any kind
Edited on Wed Jan-05-05 08:45 PM by Droopy
is anathema to conservatives. Never mind that it might solve some problems and help create a better society. In my state many institutions reliant on state aid are facing cut backs because the conservative leadership won't raise taxes to cover the shortfall. Just a slight increase in the state income tax would solve our problems. I don't mind giving a little extra to the government if they are going to do something good with it.

3. The thing with property taxes in California
is that the rich and rich from out-of-state are buying up all the prime real estate because our taxes are so low. Most of the time many of these homes go empty while the poor are crowded into apartment houses if they can afford the rent.

I definitely would keep the taxes low for a family home. But I think all vacation homes, spec homes, rental homes and homes for out-of-staters and second homes, should be taxed because this is taxing wealth. This would open up the market and lower the prices.

I didn't think this up, Warren Buffett did and Arnold dissed him for doing so.

16. The Gropenator has destroyed health care for the mentally ill...
...in this county. Every time I've asked about a cutback, the practitioner pointed to the Republicans in Sacramento.

14. yep. if only the morans would wake up
"If he increased property taxes on the rich, like Warren Buffett suggested to him, that would drive down the cost of real estate and create the revenues to balance his budget."

exactly what should be done; even just a small increase on COMMERCIAL property would do the trick; comm prop rarely changes hands (at least in a manner that would trigger a Prop 13 re-assessment), so gets even BIGGER tax boon under Prop 13.

but will the human meatball do so? not in a million years; got to make sure taxes never go up on his rich puppetmasters.

toad. I wonder why Maria ever kissed him.

How's Salinas coming with those library closures? They must be SO proud!

9. same here in Elk Grove, the hours have been cut
a little more every couple of months. I can't stand him, he's a corrupt bag of shit and in a petty note, he really needs a new make up person.

Maybe the make-up person will put green foundation on him and you won't be able to tell the difference.

12. I actually do think that he does look reptillian
i think maybe it started inside him first and has manifested itself on his face. The one good thing about him though is that he has shown he has no coattails at all.

15. it was the face-lift...
...that he reportedly got before running for gropenator. we all know that smoking = wrinkles so he had to stick a vacuum in the back of his head and suck out all the slack. hence now = reptilian no-blink tightness. :eyes:

also, I never tire of pointing out the persistent furniture-polish brown color of his surgically-thickened hairline. does he or doesn't he? he does.

vain sack o'shit

18. of course he does. So many of them do
i think since the advent cspan and cable news lawmakers have become much more vain about how they look. Grophenfuher has really pulled the trifecta of the shitty look though, the hair, the face complete with lip liner and his strange looking body, a real winner there.

17. Regardless of his clout, Schwarzenegger's one player in Prop 13 reform.
Our State Representatives and Senators could meld a viable compromise to amend 13 that would have a chance for Arnie's signature. We all know corporate property owners are getting a pass on taxes and County coffers - which mean schools and public safety - are drying up quicker than the Salinas in August.

California's gerrymandered, extremely partisan statehouse doesn't entertain the thought, though, even in light of our enormous deficit.

There's a give and take opportunity somewhere in this mess.

(aside) I am not in favor of a recall effort. The Davis recall fiasco was a lesson for us all, imho.
