Interesting Bush - John Hinckley connection
Doing some historical research tonight and came across this:

http://www.hereinreality.com/hinckley.html

Reminds me of the old story of Edwin Booth saving the life of Lincoln's son.

1. My friend, even John Chancellor mentioned it on the evening news...
Thank you for highlighting this true story. The Hinckleys' oil company was looking at $2,000,000 in fines from the actions of the Department of Energy (um, that's a part of the Executive branch, isn't it?) against their oil company. And coincidentally, just as these fines were coming down, their saner son just happened to be meeting with Neil Bush, son of Vice President George H.W. Bush (um, Vice President, he's part of the Executive branch, isn't he?)

And if the crazier son had succeeded, George H.W. Bush, sometime CIA head, would have become president. It just doesn't get any fishier than that.

I once mentioned this documented connection to a poster on another board. He was a Bush supporter; I, of course, am not. He responded to my Hinckley-Bush mention by saying, "Oh, now I see, you're not really a liberal or a Kerry supporter or the usual--you're just a crackpot." I responded by posting the stories you have posted today. The other poster never opened his mouth about it again. (A rare experience, on an internet political discussion board.)

Sometimes it's fun to not be only 20-yrs-old: You remember so many things that help to make sense of the present!

10. That's why people need to TELL others things like this...
so many of our friends/associates/co-workers/relatives are not "news junkies" as some of us are. So those people miss a lot--unless a story is really hyped up, it gets past them.

And needless to say, this business of the real, documented, fairly close, connection btw the Bush family and the Hinckley family was hushed up.

I always "knew" that John Hinckley came from an influential family. I didn't know anything in particular about his parents, but I just "knew" they had to have money and influence. I just sensed this, b/c I always watched with amazement how Hinckley escaped any real punishment, and has been leniently dealt with. It seems clear to me that the Hinckleys' association with the Bushes has much to do with the fact that John Hinckley received little or no punishment for what he did.

And, I mean, look at Sirhan Sirhan. Or look at Sarah Jane Moore and Squeaky Fromme--I don't think either one of them is getting out of jail, even though their offenses were in the 70's. As with Hinckley, their victim (Ford) didn't die, either. So why the different treatment for Hinckley?

7. Nancy Reagan always thought Poppy Bush was behind it
and that's the main reason she would never allow the Bushes into the private apartment at the White House.

I think she may have been onto something. I think this was their first coup attempt. The second was the Clinton witch hunt. The third was the stolen election and the total corruption of the electoral process.

4. "The Afternoon of March 30" - a novel based on the Bush-Hinckley story

THE AFTERNOON OF MARCH 30, is the story of a Montana newspaperman who is at first puzzled, then curious, then finally outraged by what the national news media never told the American people about the attempt of John W. Hinckley Jr. to assassinate the president of the United States.

It is a real-life mystery story, a detective story, a newspaper story, a spy story and more than one love story. It is a polemic that explores the strange "coincidences," curious "happenstances," major discrepancies, critical omissions and possible covert disinformation activities in the wake of a bullet that came within an inch of changing the course of history. It is a story of a journalist's fierce devotion to the American ideals of freedom and justice. It is a different kind of roman à clef.

Even more dangerous for the future of our country than a conspiracy to assassinate a president is a conspiracy to manipulate and control what the American people are told by the national news media. This book—among much else—examines the official cover-up of vital information that left scores of unanswered questions surrounding the event of the afternoon of March 30, 1981. From the book, page 6:

When it happened it was beyond the grotesque. For seconds Jonathan Blakely was stunned. John Chancellor, eyebrows raised, informed the viewers of NBC Nightly News that the brother of the man who tried to kill the president was acquainted with the son of the man who would have become president if the attack had been successful. As a matter of fact, Chancellor said in a bewildered tone, Scott Hinckley and Neil Bush had been scheduled to have dinner together at the home of the vice president's son the very next night. And, of course, the engagement had been canceled. . .

5. Jeez, now I see that this stuff is all over the web..
I hate Bush so much, I wonder how I failed to ever come across this stuff before.

It's like finding out there was a fifth Beatle named Jermaine who everyone knew about but me.

(I know whitehouse.org is a parody site, but this looks real)

To summarize:

Neil Bush was friends with Scott Hinckley (John Hinckley Jr's brother).

Scott Hinckley & his dad (John Hinckley Sr.) were Houston oil men.

John Hinckley Sr's oil company was bailed out by Bush Sr's oil company in the 60s.

John Hinckley Jr lived in Lubbock, Texas and according to Dubya himself, might have been involved in his congressional campaign or might have met.

If Hinckley had succeeded in his attempt on Reagan's life, Bush Pappa would have become president 8 years sooner.

Hmmm....

9. Yep, Neil and the Hinkley's were very friendly
including having dinners together. I thought about this when they decided to let Hinkley out for visits...a would be assassin of a president allowed out for visits? Yeah, sure that sounds about right, watch him be one of the pardons Bush's last year...I don't see Squeaky Fromm getting to go on visits outside of prison do you, no all she got is Martha Stewart in the same prison? She didn't even get the gun out to shot Ford...
