Davison High School denies alum Michael Moore
DAVISON, Mich. (AP) — Oscar on the shelf or not, Michael Moore is not getting much respect at his old high school.
Despite his fame and many honors, the filmmaker has been rejected all four times that he has been nominated for Davison High School's Hall of Fame.

"Would you want him as a role model? Would you want your son or daughter to be like him?" asked Don Hammond, a member of the Davison Hall of Fame selection committee, who has voted not to elect Moore. "I haven't talked to anybody yet who's for him. The word to describe Michael Moore is embarrassing. He embarrasses everybody."

Ryan Eashoo disagrees. The 1997 Davison High graduate has spent 80 hours the last two weeks and $600 of his own money trying to get Moore elected this time.

1. yeah well there is life after high school
Michael Moore probably benefits more from the publicity than he would if they just admitted that he was a success even though he did attend their putrid little school.

At least this way he can refuse to donate when they come around with the alumni fund.

The conservation movement is a breeding ground of communists
and other subversives. We intend to clean them out,
even if it means rounding up every birdwatcher in the country.

2. Davison HS: a great place to be from
Here's to Michael Moore: keep embarrassing those guys! You're doing the rest of the country a great service.

I can't wait to see your next documentary, the one exposing the pharmaceutical industry. Embarrass them too!

4. Yes, as a matter of fact, I WOULD like my son or daughter to be like
Mike. I'd rather they guard their health a little better, I worry bout Mike's weight issues, but other than that, sure.

5. That's how they would receive me if I ever made it big.
But, not in my childhood hometown. For those who remembered me from back then, it would rekindle a spark of the leaders we were born to be.

8. Hell, I can understand how that works.
I could become president and my high school would not acknowledge me as a success because I'm a liberal.

9. This is just silly
He should be recognized as a filmmaker regardless of whether they agree with his work or not.

Here's a question for someone who feels like doing research: How many more famous people have graduated from this high school? Any other household names?

14. Michael Moore should invite Ryan Eashoo for a really nice dinner and show
to repay him for the $600 and 80 hours he spent and they can live it up and have a big laugh at Don Hammond.

15. It's an honor just to be nominated....lol....
...sorry, still have a Golden Globes "schmaltz" hangover.

I think any school in this country would be proud to honor MM as a graduate, obviously as a student who wasn't left behind! Hopefully MM will have some fun with this :)

16. Jesus said a prophet has no honor in his own land. Here is Moore, who

has pretty much dedicated his life to exposing the exploitation of the poor and disenfranchised by the wealthy and he is shunned. Another thing that Jesus said was that if you walked the walk and took up the cross that he bore that the world would reject you. I don't know if Michael Moore is a Christaian or what his philosophy is, but if you look at his works, there's no way that you cannot say that he is not emulating Jesus in a lot of ways, making fun of the rich and the self righteous and championing the cause of the poor and downtrodden.

17. I read MM saying that he's a practicing Catholic last week
He was commenting on Mel Gibson's comments about him and said that he saw Mad Mel's movie a couple of times and took his father. However he said he and Mel are from completely different wings of the Church.

21. How does...
How does Davidson High School Measure fame? Because if being a millionare, political activist, media mogul, best selling author, and oscar winning filmmaker doesn't indicate fame or success, there's no hope left for the rest of us!
