HELP! I start a Latin American class today with John Negroponte's wife!!
I need to take this latin american studies class (as it fulfills two requirements in one). It turns out that the professor is John Negroponte's wife, Diana. Negroponte was involved in the Honduras scandal in the early 80s, essentially allowing death squads to eliminate dissenting factions (similar to the "Salvador Option", but there's no documentation that the US funded the squads in Honduras).

John Negroponte has recently been named the US ambassador to Iraq...

I just know that we're going to be reading some of his rightwing claptrap... Anyone suggest any particularly well written books, journals, or sites to read?

2. Google should help you out with tons of stuff to use as research
Be sure to try and access stuff that's pretty mainstream, and comes with video clips , if possible..

The Iran Contra hearings transcripts should yield much :)

Be polite, be snarky and have unassailable facts.. You can make her husband out to be the warmongering fool we all know he is, and yet you can be "above board" about it. :)

I wonder if she plans to show "Salvador" in class :).. You could always ask to have it shown..."as background"...

3. I just finished a good book with a lot of Latin American
references. "Confessions of an Economic Hit Man" by John Perkins.

Explains how things really work in Latin America, and the rest of the world.

4. ZNet
http://www.zmag.org

It has a current news area and a magazine area.

The best site for cutting through the propaganda.
