"Truth" lyrics by IZM
This is a song from a band I am friends with. IZM is like afro rock/ funkpunk / soul.
They are black, beautiful, and VERY talented. I promise you will hear about them one day.

I can't hook you up with a link to the music yet but here are the lyrics to their song "truth."

This song is almost rap-like, but Bishop is singing it very quickly with a soulful voice, that would make Simon Cowell cream his trousers.

This song is difiniately funk with one great guitar solo, maybe someone like Jamiroqui would be a good comparison.

Lyrics to "truth" by IZM

we got politicians steady lyin'
to the masses and they buy in
to the rhetoric said
they placin' lies in your head

u got videos on tv
for little girls to see
full of buck naked hoes
shakin' ass and titties

u got movies fill with violence
people dyin' left and right
little boys go back to school next day and start a fight

u got people ridin' twenties, with others in the hood
people doin' good
to keep they lights on
cause their job pays shit

u got a whole lot of poverty
economic disparity
u got people robbin' for rocks
and malt liquor is charity

we got a racialized system, sterotyped out the ass
we got people goin'by the ignorance that's been rambled in past

The sheep that are hearded by their own mighty shepard
makin' dollars off the flock, it's like god who is robbin' us.

Economic system in the state we're in
making friends your enemy and money your friend
and I'm afraid

Chorus
rise up, rise up, rise up
that's the sad state of affairs
rise up, rise up, rise up
if you believe in god then say a prayer
rise up, rise up, rise up
cause the whole wide world is going to hell
rise up, rise up, rise up
it's goin' to hell
rise up
it's goin' to hell

oooh oooh oooh
(cool Santana like lead guitar solo)

We got brothers calling brothers niggers
and we tryin' to figure
why we're living like slaves
even though that was yesterday

we got babies mama's mamas takin' care of the younguns
hangin' on to the grown
still living at home

we got people lined up at the liquor store at 10
first in line to buy a broken man's best friend
we got green being sold in dime bags a doz
heroin's a kiss and crack is a hug

but don't get me wrong
got no problem with weed
got no problem with sex if that's what you need
but to see this country where there's non-stop suffering
and my race, it seems, always gets the brunt of it

but as far as I can see your eyes need to IZM it
to the realities of the hurtin' children
and I know you may not be used to hearin' truth
but if you don't open you eyes
you a damn fool

repeat chorus
