Please tell me this isn't true.
Received this e-mail from a friend (name removed)

Good for Oprah!!!!
I'm sure many of you watched the recent taping of The Oprah Winfrey show where her guest was Tommy Hilfiger. On the show, she asked him if the statements about race he was accused of saying were true. Statements like"... if I'd known African-Americans, Hispanics, Jews and Asians would buy my clothes, I would not have made them so nice. I wish these people would *NOT* buy my clothes, as they are made for upper class white people."

His answer to Oprah was a simple "YES". Where after she immediately asked him to
leave her show.

My suggestion? Don't buy your next shirt or Perfume from Tommy Hilfiger. Let's give him what he asked for. Let's not buy his clothes. Let's put him in a financial state where he himself will not be able to afford the ridiculous prices he puts on his clothes.

BOYCOTT PLEASE, & SEND THIS MESSAGE TO ANYONE YOU KNOW !!!!!

2. snopes - false
This is an urban legend. Please let the people who sent you the email know it.

If you want to boycott for other reasons, fair game, but not this reason.

3. Smells like an urban legend to me-think you better verify
this before you pass this on. Had this really happened, the news wouuld have been all over it.

(I remember an urban legend where the head of Proctor and Gamble supposedly went on a talk show and said he worked for Satan. Didn't happen).

14. Snopes was the name of a family in a trilogy of Faulkner novels.
The main character was a sort of "white-trash" guy who made good through treachery. I don't know exactly how the name relates to the web site, though.

I don't see anywhere on their site where they explain it, either...

9. Sounds bogus to me. No entrepreneur would, IMO, alienate potential
customers in such a crass manner. But I don't watch that show so I could be wrong...

11. FALSE rumor -- it isn't true.
From Snopes http://www.snopes.com/racial/business/hilfiger.asp

Hilfliger has never been on Oprah, he says that he has never made that statement, and it appears to be an unfounded rumor with many variations.

You can find out more about it at Snopes.

Please, everybody -- when you get a batch e-mail claiming something outrageous, research the claim before you just assume it's true and pass it on. Snopes is an excellent source.

16. sheesh not even remotely true and been around for YEARS!!!
I can't believe people are still sending this email.

Hilfiger said nothing of the kind, you may write to Oprah yourself and she will tell you the same.

It's another Proctor and Gamble hoax.
