7. Indeed;
talk about subliminally getting your message across - well, this isn't it, this is blatant!

Reminds me of the Beavis and Butthead episode with the army recruitment video that said "today's army RAWKS!!!".

I feel pretty sorry for those kids I suppose; I bet there's more recruitment officers at that "gig" than human beings...

I wonder when they are enlisting in the nearest army recruiting office, to walk the walk in their fawning support of Dear Leader.

the kid in the foreground with the "Danny from The Shining" haircut at least has the good sense to keep his hand on his wallet when in close proximity to Pinocchio.

Can't be too careful... lot of crooks about.

19. Ahh, the "new" Hitler Youth
The only thing missing is those neat camping trips with hiking, bicycling and canoeing. Skiing in the winter is also included.

21. Actually the Youth Camps are run by fundamentalists
Each child is subjected to endless inculcations of the requisite belief system.

From my experience, fundamentalists are roughly equivalent to cultists. They place a premium on following a leader and accepting his will.

Never heard of "Fuel", but Hillary Duff and "JoJo" are NOT musicians.

The Japanese have the best term for this sort of manufactured celebrity: Idol Singers.

18. You know, my Mom surprised me this weekend....
she believes the draft is coming, because dubya is spending so much time around "the youth" showing up at high schools and holding rock concerts and whatnot.

she thinks it's his way of softening up the kids, before sending them off to war.

26. I can see why the Nazi comparison is tempting here
But remember that the Hitler youth was ordinary young people duped by their government, just as these repub youngsters. Not evil spawn

No, but come on. They're young, and young people are bound to be stupid sometimes, from lack of life experience.

But I agree that the play list sucks; and why isn't anyone targeting these kids with a counter-concert or something? If it comes down to a plain comparison between 'us' and 'them': who's got the best artists? I tell you, it's a walkover ;-)

That could have been a good reponse to the inauguration of the * ?
A huge peace concert in central DC (or maybe Central Park, NY) with music and politics, that would have sent the right message. And it would have been fun to watch as well :D

The growing retro-christian Repub teenage bimboism could easily be met by people like Eminem - artists that carry the MESSAGE to young people. He's kinda disappeared after the election, no doubt having a well deserved rest from his work, just as many other campaigners.

But there's a vacuum now, as far as semi-organized action is concerned. At least it appear to be.
Where are all the beat poets, film directors, writers, journalists and musicians that's supposed to be the role models for young people, today? In the 60's and 70's, these popped up everywhere, gained momentum as a somewhat vague movement and dragged the whole country to the left.

A good ole revolution in the Youth Dept. - that's what the Repubs need
