Where Feinstein woos, Boxer wallops
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/chronicle/archive/2005/01/24/MNGJKAVAAJ1.DTL

National security adviser Condoleezza Rice's confirmation hearing this past week vividly demonstrated the contrasting political styles of California's two Democratic senators -- and highlighted the dilemma for a party out of power in the nation's capital.

As President Bush's nominee to be secretary of state, Rice asked Sen. Dianne Feinstein, her home state senator, to introduce her. Feinstein responded with a glowing introduction, calling the former Stanford provost a remarkable woman with "the leadership to lead in these difficult times."

Rice was stunned later in the hearing by California's other senator, Barbara Boxer, who all but accused the nominee of lying about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Boxer told Rice her support for the war "overwhelmed your respect for the truth," which prompted a furious reply from the nominee.

we need many more wallopers (is that even a word) to deal with the neo-cons and their minions in Congress

3. Anyone care to venture a guess as to what Feinstien will
contribute as part of the debate on Rice's appointment tomorrow. She's slotted for some time on the Dem side. What can she possibly have left to say after that stellar performance last week? Please note the dripping sarcasm in that question.

5. All those asshole senators that talk a big stick on the senate floor
show what they made of when it came to confirming Condi.

The excuse was, "Condi was gonna get the nomination anyway. Why rock the boat?"

6. Check out this "Feinstein is a War Profiteer" thread. Many excellent
articles. Her husband owns companies that have gotten government contracts for work in Iraq.
