To the protesters on Thursday-anyone see this?
This is from the reprehensiblescreedpage FrontPageMag, and the story was also reported in the Washington Post. However, I was at 4th and Penn all day and didn't see one damn thing! Did anyone the protest warriors show up, or is this just made-up crap?

The peace activists must be feeling the sting of the well-deserved mockery they receive at the hands of the Protest Warriors, because today in Washington DC they actually fought back! with physical force! against an enemy!

Of course, the enemy was their own fellow citizens, as usual: Protesting the Protesters.

Ten minutes after telling his fellow protesters to stay safe, Gil Kobrin lay huddled in the slush and mud as two anarchists repeatedly kicked him in the back.

How he got from point A to point B is simple enough. Kobrin, accompanied by a dozen members of the conservative group ProtestWarrior, crashed a rally of hundreds of anti-Bush demonstrators at Meridian Park in Washington, D.C. Holding aloft signs that read “Say no to war unless a Democrat is president” and “Not to brag, but Bush won, so shove it!” they had set off earlier on inauguration morning in search of their opposites.

The ProtestWarrior contingent didn’t have to search for very long; the party came to them.

7. I agree, BUT
Unfortunately we end up being painted as violent by the media because of another group's actions. We need to be able to demonstrate that we are not weak, but that we CHOOSE to be nonviolent.

3. They were attacked by "Black Bloc" - an anarchist group
I love how the right characterizes them as "peace protesters" (they are not), and liberals (again - NOT). The only thing liberals have in common with black bloc is an intense dislike for Bush and all neocon scum.

5. And that's precisely my point
The leftist protestors were trying to keep peaceful, and we end up getting characterized as the violent troublemakers. I was at 4th and Penn all day, and I didn't see one single fight. I saw one almost start, and it was initiated by a Bushbot!
So, OF COURSE, we're the ones to be afraid of...:eyes:

6. The morons think being against the Iraq occupation means being a pacifist.
Edited on Mon Jan-24-05 12:44 PM by Stirk
It doesn't. Especially not with the anarchist crowds. The Protest "Warriors" came out to bully some Alan Colmes-ish wimps and instead got smacked around themselves. There's no hypocrisy on the part of the protestors who decided to teach the PW's a lesson. The protestors aren't pacifists.

If those Protest Warriors would've shut their mouths and opened their ears for 5 minutes in the last 4 years, they would've known that. But like their idols on talk radio and Fox News, they'd rather than just shout and stay ignorant.

Well, eventually ignorance catches up to you.

9. That's a good thing
and of course we can't police other groups. However I still get pissed off to see us have to take responsibility for causing problems when we didn't.

10. Nope, didn't see it......
I was at 14th and Pennsylvania, and earlier at the Code Pink rally and then in the funeral procession down Connecticut. Did give directions to a very polite, young Anarchist named Ryan who probably asked me 'cause I looked like his mom. (He had a sign hanging down over his heinie that said "Leftover Crack".)

11. And see, that leads me to believe
that some of this may be exagerrated. I didn't see anyone thrown to the ground and kicked. I didn't see any protest warriors at all.

12. maybe they saw that they call themselves Protest Warriors
And figured they were looking for a fight. When in reality the armchair militia over there pees their pants whenever a real fight ensues- like Iraq for example.
