anyone doubt Zarqawi is a Bush propaganda tool?
Townhall.com conveniently organizes these columns together, all of which relate the tale of Zarqawi delcaring democracy his enemy, all of which interpret that tale as proof Bush is right and all his critics are wrong.

And all of which leave out the most important line in this AFP story...

Fighting against freedom

Many have made the argument that Iraqi terrorists are opposed to U.S. policies, not democracy itself. Musab al-Zarqawi isn't making that argument, though -- he just declared war on democracy.

- Jonah Goldberg: Don't take president's word for it - take Zarqawi's
- Linda Chavez: Voting for freedom
- Jay Bryant: Election news from Iraq
- Tony Blankley: Iraqi ballots and bombs
- Jeff Jacoby: Iraq's rendezvous with destiny
- Michael Novak: Positive indicators
- Richard Williamson: Reasons for hope in Iraq's critical election
- Maha Alattar: Independence Day

1. I am convinced this Zarqawi character is largely a
phantom bogey-man invented, or at least hyped up by the US military in Iraq, and furthered by the deceptive MSM. He justified American bombing and slaughtering in Fallujah for months, then he magically "escaped" when the marines went in. The White House has OBL to justify the world-wide "war on terror" and it needed another individual enemy to justify actions in Iraq. That's my assessment anyway...

2. A agree- I also think that Zarqawi has been the OBL replacement, since

the Bush administration's failure to capture makes them look bad. They need a bogeyman, but OBL was starting to become bad PR.

4. I was 100% sure as soon as I heard his fight was against democracy.
That is a line ONLY a FAUX terrorist/Bush ENABLER would use.

5. Why don't more people doubt this story
As it's one of the most pathetic attempts of propaganda I've ever heard.

He doesn't exist folks.

6. the * administration
understands the American mind which needs concrete identifiable enemies. If no one can be earmarked as the enemy we would quickly jump to the conclusion that we don't know what we are doing and need to reassess our strategy and mission. The Iraqis fighting against the occupation forces and those who cooperate with the occupying force use him as a phantom in hopes that the occupation forces spend time and resources on trying to find him. The middle-eastern mind has played the American mind like a violin for years and we have yet to figure out how to deal effectively with them.

7. An interesting interpretation...
the Iraqis themselves are milking Zarqawi for US benefit...yeah, why not?
