My awakening to the actions of the administration is why I started The Legacy Papers campaign. This is a guerilla marketing flier distribution campaign. Each is intended to to print on one 8.5x11 sheet of paper. I've been leaving them at gas stations, newpaper racks, grocery stores, bulliten boards, bars (hey, a man can get thirsty pimpin fliers) and anywhere else I can think of. There is only one so far, but there will be more to follow. I should have some sort of mission statement up RSN (Real Soon Now).

What will be YOUR legacy?
Will your children receive a legacy to be lived up to, or, one that must be lived down? Which kind of legacy was handed off to you?
The idea for this essay came from that newspaper photo of our dear Mr Cheney in Auschwitz. I couldn't get over how absurdly disrespectful he looked. Did he just get in from chopping wood? This was a very serious event. An event commemorating the establishment of a legacy that will take generations of the perpetrators' children to live down.
Recently, during 2 hearings and floor debates, the U.S. Senate has entered into the Congressional Record direct evidence that would result in war crimes charges if the United States was a signatory of The International Court. One man they were speaking about was the archetect of the dubious legal advice leading to the recent torture outrages, and consequent further harm to the international legacy of my country.
And then 60 Senators approved this man to be the person in charge of the entire U.S. Department of Justice! An office that makes him possibly the most powerful law enforcement agent on the planet. Do those hens not recognize a fox when they see one?
We were snookered. It's time to stand up and say this is my country! Enough! It's time to invoke the fourth branch of government: We The People.
On Nov. 3rd I awoke to a startling news report: W had won. I was surprised enough to begin researching. The deeper I dug the dirtier it got. The dirtier it got the uglier it gets.
I found the "Plan for a New American Century" website. It's all laid out there. Worded in generalities, but the intent is crystal clear: Build the US into the dominant nation for the next 100+ years. The requirement of a "New Pearl Harbor" for implementation and most recently a thinly veiled call for a draft.
Under that name, it goes back to 1997 when they published their relatively innocuous "Statement of Principles." It was signed by 25 powerful people, including Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, and Jeb Bush.
Gary Bauer, one of the signers, runs the "Family Research Council" which is a PAC for the dominionist James Dobson's "Focus on the Family" organization. You know, the people who think cartoons can make our children gay.
The thing I can't figure out is why didn't the Democrats use what I've found during the election? It was certainly available to them. Why are they behaving like steers being led to slaughter? Perhaps when we get to the root of that we will understand how this has happened.
One thing is clear to me now. It's up to us, you and me, to be The Bush Opposition. Stand up. Seek truth. Spread the word. Wear a paperclip so that we can find each other.
