"Right Wingers Are Scared to Death of Dean"
Edited on Sat Feb-12-05 07:52 PM by Bluebear

I believe this op-ed rings as true today when Karl Rove says he is 'delighted' that Dean is DNC chair as when Dean was a candidate for President. And the more you hear the right wing celebrating Dean's chair and the more you hear reporters asking questions like "SOME PEOPLE SAY you are a loose cannon...." the more you can adopt a sly smile and realize they are peeing down their Brooks Brothers slacks into their faux-cowboy boots. As the author says in his last line, "The botoxed news anchors might be jealous, might be afraid to let their feelings out. But Howard Dean shouldn't be and you should trust him even more for his courage and honesty." Read this piece, won't you? Thanks. :)

Right Wingers Are Scared to Death of Dean and his Healthy Expression of Real Feelings; Bush can Smirk but Dean Can't Whoop.

By Rob Kall (Rob has lectured on emotional expression and smiling since 1985 and has a website related to this at www.positivepsychology.net)

It's the only way I can explain rabid attacks and the horrific, unethical, abusive cheap joke portrayal of Howard Dean by Fox TV, the right wing Talk show echo chamber and the right wing network news anchors on networks usually considered "genuine news sources" (unlike Fox, which anyone with half a brain knows to be the right wing/Bush propaganda arm.)

Assuming that Karl Rove lies at least as much as George Bush, and that he's coached his right wing sycophants in the congress and senate and in that ugly echo chamber they've spent billions to build-- Howard Dean is the man they fear the most, since he's the one they've attacked the most.

This column was inspired by an email exchange with Carolyn Kay a software developer turned political activist who hosts the website, www.MakeThemAccountable.com She'd said "Believe me, Karl Rove looks at Kerry as beatable. The right-wingers know how to pull a fake. Whoever Rove says he wants Bush to run against is the person he doesn't want Bush to run against."

and

"Dean is able to rouse people, to get people involved in politics who have never been involved, or who haven't been involved for a long time. Neither the Republican Party nor the Democratic Party establishment wants that kind of challenge to their power structure.”

Why would the Bush team fear this Northeastern Governor of a tiny state? Because, outside of Dennis Kucinich, he's the only one who has had the guts to step out of the staid, "correct" political role and persona and attack Bush for being a failure and liar. He's shown that he could mobilize the anti-bush vote in a phenomenal way. When Howard Dean emotes, he's reflecting the anger of tens of millions of Americans, and when he whoops it up, he's expressing the hope, and building the enthusiasm of the hundreds of thousands of people who not only supported him, but who woke up and energized the democratic drive to kick George Bush our of the White House and "send him on a one way trip back to Crawford Texas." The right wing is afraid of that.

1. The reason I was part of the Dean campaign
was that I believed his campaign did indeed rouse the people. It did, but it seems that the Establishment snuffed out that movement as fast as it could.

What a nice looking guy! He's still good looking, but Wow, again! Thank god he was no where near where me in my youth, I would have had a heartbreaking crush, never to be gotten over again.

What fun.

Note to Dear Dr. Dean, please don't disappoint us. We are all out here counting on you.

7. This hits the nail square on the head.
Yeah, Notice that Dean was the forerunner until the RW media played the scream ad nauseum.

I really believe that Fox and Clear channel picked the Dem candidate for us. No suprise they picked the guy that they felt they could destroy the easiest. There was no mention of Kerry's protesting days until after he was picked, then that was all you heard about.

In hindsight, I really think that Dean could have won. Or, to put it more correctly, won by a margin that couldn't be taken by fraud.

11. Have you heard the "scream" as it naturally happened?
fter my interview with Dean and his wife in which I played the tape again -- in fact played it to them -- I noticed that on that tape he's holding a hand-held microphone. One designed to filter out the background noise. It isolates your voice, just like it does to Charlie Gibson and me when we have big crowds in the morning. The crowds are deafening to us standing there

But the viewer at home hears only our voice.

So, we collected some other tapes from Dean's speech including one from a documentary filmmaker, tapes that do carry the sound of the crowd, not just the microphone he held on stage. We also asked the reporters who were there to help us replicate what they experienced in the room.

Reena Singh, ABC News Dean campaign reporter: "What the cameras didn't capture was the crowd."

Garance Franke-Ruta, Senior Editor, American Prospect: "As he spoke, the audience got louder and louder and I found it somewhat difficult to hear him."

Dean's boisterous countdown of the upcoming primaries as we all heard it on TV was isolated, when in fact he was shouting over the roaring crowd.

And what about the scream as we all heard it? In the room, the so-called scream couldn't really be heard at all. Again, he was yelling along with the crowd.

http://abclocal.go.com/kgo/news/012904_nw_dean_scream_abcnews.html

Nice of the MSM to report this AFTER the fact.

14. Yeah, I realized that
And besides, what the hell is wrong with showing emotion at a RALLY?

Isn't that what people come to rallies for - to get excited?

I saw Kerry and Edwards several times and it's not like they never raised their voice. It is a very emotional event for the crowd - I can only imagine what it must be like to be in the spotlight.

Kerry's speech in Springfield Oh moved my 19yo daughter to tears.

I don't want to open that whole can of worms again, it's done. But they thought he would go gently into oblivion. Instead he will be on camera more and more talking frankly, not "Presidential". Maybe things do happen for a reason.

23. Nope!
We were of course, disappointed, in only 3rd place, but we had plenty of states to look forward to (as Howard was pointing out).

My bunch got on our bus back to Texas for another 12 hour bus ride back, and when we hit town, people were laughing and kidding about "The Scream."

We were like, "what?"

Hosting the next month's meetup was really difficult. Lots of people had already dropped out, but I had to try to convince them it wasn't a big deal.

I'm SO glad things have turned around a bit.

We tried hard in New Hampshire. At least we were the only state to "turn blue", that was some consolation.

37. Dean was hurt in Iowa by the surfacing of that old tape
where he was critical of the Iowa caucus. Stubborn Iowans proved their sterotyped image by dispatching him. I believe if he had won Iowa he would now be POTUS.
My question is: Is Rove now collecting more damaging video clips of the past and will we learn Dean's complete history (the tabloid side) from Drudge and Rush? Bigger question is: When will the American people become savvy enough to reject Rove's trash politics?

66. and Rove was behind that according to Joe Trippi
I always thought it was one of the other Dem candidates until I heard a Joe Trippi audio interview where he said that was Rove's doing.

Which puts the lie to all that talk about how "delighted" he was at the prospect of Dean getting the nomination.

I'm glad some people remember history. It's important.

He was not the frontrunner when the Dean Scream happened. He had just lost Iowa.

Personally, I had felt the Scream was sort of like a high school football coach attempting to rally his kids after a tough loss. No big deal.

He has already said there is no way he will run, and Americans in general dislike the whole dynasty thing. We tend to get sick of them after a while.

I really doubt he will run, especially since by then Bush will have driven the country to the brink.

55. Also, I don't think Jeb has the 'appeal' of W.
And I use the word appeal, not really understanding what that appeal is. Jeb comes across completely different than W. I don't think he has anything close to the 'down home regular guy' persona W puts on.

However, the pukes will find an equally or more despicable candidate, and probably one that we will fear even more than W. It's hard to imagine that's possible, but I'm sure it is.

There's always Pappy Bush, Jeb Bush, Neil Bush, and who knows who else. They already started the smear Dean campaign, here's a report from my local website, of course, the author is anonymous, not even a web handle and it's in the public domain. Who ever said that dirt wasn't free. I really admire Dr. Dean, he was one of the few voices we heard after the darkness of November 2nd, 2004.

I really am getting sick and tired of the Right Wing cable whores and talk radio facists trying to give " helpful " advice to the Democrats..Yeah they are soooo wanting to help..I really cant belive people are falling for it. Its like the Wolf giving advice to the sheephearder on what to do with the flock. ( another I have not watched cable news in over 6 months ).Fact is the Democrats were in shambles before Dean lit a much needed fire under our collective asses and the GOP knows this. The right wingers are scared of Dean, The DINOS are scared of dean and thats good enough for me to support him for DNC chiar.

51. The Dean scream.
How many times have I heard an evangelist or preacher, in the pulpit, do the exact same thing that Dean did. It wasn't something that the churchgoing repubs had never seen or heard.

63. I believe that Rove & the GOP always were worried about Dean & that their
strategy along was to make it seem like what they feared the most is what they welcomed....its called a fake-out....

Even all the indicators that some of the Dem Party didn't have Howard Dean as their first choice and was waffling on him was to me the thing I worried about the most....because its that waffling and failure that was why the Dems were losing....Dean is going to take the same passion, fever and energy and energize all Dems and Americans alike. Rove and the GOP can play his scream (and the new one on secret tape file that Rove claims to have in his vault of tricks) all they want....it aint' going to stop the momentum that Dean will start. And yes, Rove & Co are worried!

BTW - if you haven't done it, send in even $5 to the DNC with a note (or online) and say "Go get em Dr. Dean"....

PS: If the DNC had not chosen Howard Dean, I was not going to give another penny to the DNC (and I sent them a letter after the election letting them know so much). Now, I will answer the Doctor's call whenever he needs me....

I firmly believe that Dr. Dean is going to save the Dem Party...and Rove knows and fears that....
