Secret Political Prisoners in US prisons - Law and Order!
I usually don't watch this. The plot has the detectives investigating the murder of a guard finding out that there are "secret prisoners" being held. all of middle eastern descent.

Wow.

Any body else see this?

1. Yes! It was Excellent! I especially liked the line "Patriot Act, hmph,
I remember it by it's original name - 1984"

2. And the scene at the end...
the prisoners walking out wrapped in blankets... and one of the cops says the line about 'secret prisoners on US soil, never thought it would happen." "Everybody gets their day in court."

I caught DemocracyNow today. They had the lawyer on that was just convicted of aiding terrorism. Scary stuff. She's 68 and they want to put her in prison for doing her job.

4. Criminal Intent was excellent
I saw Democracy Now too, and Lynne Stewart's case is chilling. The attorney/client privilege was denied, and other unconstitutional restrictions were placed on her as Sheik Rahman's defense attorney. I was particularly impressed by former US Attorney General Ramsey Clark's presence and his contention that Lynne Stewart did nothing he hadn't done when the Sheik had been his client.

The difference? The Patriot Act. "1984" indeed. Guilty on all counts, not one of them having anything to do with terrorism. Here's an excerpt from her attorney, Michael Tygar:

'Terrorism is not an element of any of the offenses with which Lynne Stewart was charged. The terror label appears in the catch line of one of the statutes. It is not an element. And, yet, you can see how successful the Bush administration has been at pasting the terrorism label on these non-events so closely, so clearly that everybody kind of assumes it, and it becomes a part of discourse which is, of course, the difficulty in a trial like this. As Lynne said in one of your video clips, “If you mention Osama bin Laden's name, you don't have to present any evidence. You can tell the jury that he has nothing to do with the case, but there's been this discourse, this drumbeat that makes it very difficult for our voice to be heard."'

Anyone interested in learning about Lynne Stewart's case and conviction can visit her website, http://www.lynnestewart.org. Or see Democracy Now's transcript of their interview with Lynne Stewart, Michael Tygar and Ramsey Clark.

7. Yes! I couldn't believe my ears, that made my week! the ending was
particularly interesting, too, when Goren is talking to the guards about why they torture and gets through to their conscience, I wish that would work in real life. Vincent D'nafrio (or however you spell his name) we need your intensity and logic here, please!

6. It was great
and I love that show every week - very intense, but tonight's was incredible that they took on the Patriot Act and prisoner abuse in one show.

Boston Legal had a nice speech on chest beaters hiring their warriors to fight for them

Things are bubbling up.

9. BL taking swipes at the USDA and Cattleman's association, too.
Shore's speech about "the craven" was a nice subtle smack at Bu$hCo.

10. The standoff at the end was unrealistic but wonderful to see
Not to spoil anything for those that haven't seen it yet. It was a very noble and courageous stand. Reason and compassion won the day.
