Lautenberg makes no move on Gannon

By John Byrne | RAW STORY

Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) has yet to make a decision on whether he’ll take further action to force the White House’s hand on disclosing how a reporter using a pseudonym with ties to prostitution got access to the president, RAW STORY has learned.

Lautenberg’s spokesman, Alex Formuzis, said the senator would not take action Wednesday, and was still considering his options.

The senator wrote to President Bush on Thursday requesting all documentation relating to the credentialing of disgraced White House reporter Jim Guckert, who wrote under the pseudonym Jeff Gannon.

Formuzis says Lautenberg’s office placed calls to Scott McClellan, the president’s press secretary, on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. They’ve heard nothing, he said.

7. Here's mine.
Dear Senator Lautenberg,

I'm writing to encourage you to press on regarding the Guckert/Gannon matter. The American people need to know how someone using a pseudonym gets access to the White House on a daily basis for two years. More importantly, how does one get invited to a Presidential press conference to ask a question. If you can answer that one, feel free to volunteer me.

In addition, we have a right to know when White House reporters are really shills for administration policies and paid for by political hacks. For one, I'm tired of being lied to by elected officials.

Please don't be reluctant to inquire because of the possible sexual implications. The questions must still be asked. Let the answers lead us where they may.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
