Karl Rove's "Delicious" Factoids
Associated Press
February 18, 2005
Rove extols GOP mandate

Karl Rove, top political strategist to President George W. Bush, yesterday pronounced conservatism the "dominant political creed in America" and coached fellow conservatives on how to support his boss. "The next time one of your smarty-pants liberal friends says to you, 'Well, he didn't have a mandate,' you tell him of this delicious fact: This president got a higher percentage of the vote than any Democratic candidate for president since 1964," Rove said at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington. Bush was re-elected with about 51 percent of the vote. Rove also cautioned supporters that they must not become complacent with the 2004 victory: "Republicans cannot grow tired or timid."

Leave it to a man known as "Turd Blossom" to call a load of crap "delicious".

Well, when the inevitable RW Bushbot quotes TB here, you have a ready-made "delicious" retort: "It's only delicious if you're used to swallowing bullshit. 51% is NOT a mandate, and no amount of number-spinning can make it one."

1. Next time your freeper friend talks about KKKarl Rove as a "genius"
Remind him of this "delicious fact": Rove broke the law and endangered lives of CIA operatives by "outing" Valerie Plame as a political vendetta against her husband - and may have committed treason as well.

6. Yoo Hoo!! Mr. Rove!! Over here!! I've got "scrumptious" facts...
Edited on Fri Feb-18-05 12:39 PM by TwoSparkles
How about these facts, Mr. Rove? I wouldn't couch them as "delicious". However, unlike your assertions, they are fact-based.

**John Kerry garnered 57,288,974 votes in the 2004 presidential election. Never in U.S. history have so many cast votes against an incumbent president.

**Bush won by a mere 3 percent--the smallest margin of victory in a presidential race, since 1920. The fifth-smallest victory in U.S. history.

**Bush won with 51 percent of the vote. Most statisticians would agree that 51 percent is a slight majority. I have yet to hear a statistician use the words "delicious" and "mandate" to describe Bush's 51 percent victory.

**Kerry's vote totals (57,288,974) topped the number of votes that Reagan received when he wont the 1984 election (54.5 million votes). I think you can agree that Ronald Reagan had strong support for his policies. Obviously, loyal, firm support for Kerry's agenda exists as well.

Current polls show Bush's approval rating at 48 percent and 45 percent (Harris Feb 8; and AP/Ipsos Feb 10, respectively). Bush's support is eroding. Not growing. He's been weakened since his slight-majority win a few months ago. Dissipation of a slight majority does not a mandate make.

Bush's centerpiece, post-election issues include: Privatizing Social Security, ramping up invasions of Iran and Syria, eliminating Perkins Loans, cutting education, cutting programs that aid the poor, raising taxes on the wealthy and forcing "freedom" and "liberty" on any country we deem inadequate. Bush didn't mention any of these ideas during the campaign. Not one. How can Bush declare a mandate on an agenda that was concealed during the campaign, and revealed only after the election?

Think before you propagandize, Mr. Rove.

9. Bush did not win anyway.
The exit polls were correct, as they always are.
Bush cheated and the country lost.

10. Rove had a "MAN-DATE" with Gannon on election night....
Rove needed a lesson on back door entry to make his "MAN-DATE" seem official.
