Spreading the word - Are the "good guys" findable by John and Jane Doe?

When doing a google news search for overnight developments to the Anderson Cooper / Guckert interview I had a "happy hit" (found a link to Nashua Advocate's coverage) that got me to thinking:

It is obvious that many in middle america do not get their news from blogs and participatory forums like DU (but I'm sure it's a growing number).

Nevertheless, how many forums and blogs are "reachable" to John and Jane Doe via conventional search methods?
