Bush the intimidated and Putin transcript up
http://www.nytimes.com/2005/02/24/international/24TEXT-BUSH.html?pagewanted=1

I hope you have your Bush to english translator with you

BUSH: There was no doubt in my mind what his position was on Iraq. He didn't, kind of, hedge, he didn't try to, you know, cloud up the issue. He made it abundantly clear to me that he didn't agree with my decision.

And that's an important part of having a trustworthy relationship, a relationship where when a person tells you something, you know he means what he says, and yes means yes and no means no.

Sometimes in politics yes means maybe. And no means if. This is the kind of fellow who when he says yes, he means yes, and when he says no, he means no.

And we had a discussion about some decisions he's made. He's had some interest in decisions I've made. That's a very important dialogue.

As I said, I'll say it again, I think it's very important that all nations understand the great values inherent in democracy: rule of law and the protection of minorities, viable political debate. And when I brought that -- I don't want to put -- Vladimir can speak for himself on that issue. But all you can tell you is he said yes meant yes when we talked about values that we share.

but you'll get where he's going.

3. Bloomberg was on at my friend's business.
I listened to him spew and in counterpoint to Pootie-poot.

My gawd, the man was incoherent at some points. I pointed out to my friend that he should take some time to imagine what Clinton would be saying in that situation.

Chimpington actually got lost in some spots. Just addled and babbling buzz phrases. They are his lifeline.

17. Wanna make a bet that Pootie-poot told him behind closed
doors to shove his version of democracy where the sun don't shine? He probably also told him "Make me!" when Little Boots started pushing the get rid of the nukes order. Pootie likes to be dominant.

10. You can almost hear him shouting as you read his gibberish.
Just like in Germany yesterday. "IRAN IS NOT IRAQ!" Like a drunk on the verge of starting a bar fight.

11. I was watching the
Lunatic translation attempt via the actual Russian statments at the same time, overlay...mostly i heard very little of both, but what I did hear is the translators inability to convey how "snide" the tone was and how it seemed to me that Putin had little regard for chimp, well in my stupid op anyway.

That aside, looks like Putin's democracy was stamped A-Okay by the USA in exchange for energy contracts... that is my summary. Nothing else stated was important... in other words "Putin, give us the contracts and we will pretend that you are making honest democratic improvements and we will pretend not to notice the Iran nuke deals." Anyone?

Where can I get the Russian transcripts? Now that would be an interesting play by lie comparison...I don't mean the doctored version, but a free press version somewhere... anyone know?

they are still, as liberal as they are, not free press...have a staffer with us who works for Moscow times. I want to read this thing because I tell you, even though the overly of two voices made it difficult to hear, something did not sound right in the translation.

20. Is it smart to trust everything Putin says?
Is Idiotboy sure yes means yes? Seems kind of dangerous to take Putin's word on faith.. Maybe he's just saying that because he thinks it sounds good.

25. Dumbell thinks he's got Putin sized up
His overweening self-regard will always have him sure he's the player and not the playee. "Saw into his soul" and all that silly crap.

I wonder if Bush just ran out of things to give him. This turn to obstinancy and resistance to criticism is a change from the old lip service about seeing eye to eye with Good Friend Dubya. Remember when Putin came swooping out of left field to say that Democrats had no moral standing to criticize Bush over Iraq? That was astonishing. And I'm sure he got something choice from our preznit for doing it.
