According to this article, Uday was going to overthrow his father's regime. Then we bombed the shit out of Iraq, and 2 years and 200 Billion dollars later, let Iranians take over. Fantastic planning on our part.

Yuk. Hussein was a monster. He was their monster and they had to kill him when he got out of control and had killed over a million. He called attention to himself.
