Letterman tonight
"Osama Bin Laden...wouldn't we all feel a little bit better if we got him?" (applause)

"We gotta get someone on that guy." (laughter)

1. The tide is turning
Even on 9-11, the president is being mocked by mainstream late night tv. His invulnerability has been exposed as a fraud.

My guess is that Letterman will be tougher on him. He might be a bit pissed about working in NY while the Bush EPA snow jobbed the air reports.

If Jay Leno keeps bringing on Dennis Miller to recycle Clinton jokes, I am going to avoid him like the plague.

3. I stopped watching them both about five years ago....
I couldn't tolerate the monologues. Haven't looked back - one of my better decisions.

4. Bush also got ripped on Hardball tonight
This is amazing - for him to be attacked like this on 9/11. I thought today would be a Bush lovefest.

Bush has gotten ripped all day today on various segments on MSNBC.

I see a tide turning....

11. Exactly what we've been hoping for...
No more free passes or false poll bumps for Bush. If he gets attacked on this day, when I saw American flags all over the place, he's finished.

Takin' back the country...

2. having been to a taping of letterman
when I was in NYC a year and a half ago...

the producers tell the audience before the show starts to laugh at EVERYTHING...even if you don't think it is funny.

yes, that show is just pathetically sad.

Letterman and Leno blow.

Stewart and Maher are the only half decent talk shows on, make no doubt about it.

5. C'mon
Leno & Letterman and Stewart & Maher are completely different types of shows. Apples and oranges.

6. Letterman
Dave is particully partison, but if you warrant it he will use you for joke fodder.

As to the warmup... it's typical TV.

7. Letterman is the classiest class act on television.
I can't believe some of the things that are being posted in this thread!

8. ALL "live-taped" comedy shows prep the audience like that.
(first hand experience from a taping of Politically Incorrect in DC here, too)

Letterman is much more on "our" side than Leno.

He makes fun of bush every damn night fercrissake. And asks to play the tape (of bush gaffes) twice!

10. Yep like this video
I was slow on the draw and only caught a part of it.

Chimp Spit

If it wasn't for Letterman I never would have known about it.

12. Letterman goofs on Dean
Plays a fake Dean campaign ad, in the background you hear Dean being arrested because his campaign music was apparently downloaded from the Internet. It was funny, but mostly I just liked seeing the pics of Dean on Dave's show.

Hope Dean makes an appearance there sometime.

By the way, Dave has been pretty funny lately; he was all over the thing with Bush dropping his dog.
