Is it just me, or does it seem like the Republican party has bitten off more than it can chew? Bush and the Republicans, in their arrogance, have pushed too hard, too fast, for their agenda, an agenda most people did not think they would push. I believe it will bite them in the ass come the next elections, assuming they are honest. With SS reform on the back burner, Bankruptcy reform biting the middle class in the ass, and our international quagmire, the Republicans are in trouble, serious trouble, especially if the dollar tanks and we possibly sink into a depression. Think back to the 1930's and see how the Democrats swept into power to fix THAT fuckup of Republican "fiscal responsibility". I'm just waiting to stick the fork in them and say they are done.

needs to die an agonizing death. Lose their God Complex and love affair with neocons. I didn't know what their agenda would be but this mess doesn't suprise me at all. They apologize for nothing. We just need to have the Democratic Party ready and willing to be a true opposition party again.

3. I think it will go something like this...

Current radical right wing economic and foreign policies of the Republican Party hastens the economic collapse of the United States, aided, somewhat, by center to center-right policies implemented since 1980. By the time the next presidential election rolls around, the Republicans will get the brunt of the blame, they can't avoid it, no matter how much their media can spin it, people won't buy it at that time. The Nominally Center-Left party, the Democrats, are then in a position to appeal to common interests of the people of this country. We can then seize economic populism and shift to the left as necessary to repair the Republican damage. Using tried and true methods, we can seize the majority and hopefully a large enough one to bring about a 2nd New Deal, and do things much better than FDR did.

That stock market crash and social upheaval of the early 20th century was a long time coming and the wingnuts will argue that war saved the world because it built the military industrial complex based on fear.History books in schools were all about the dates of wars,not about what brought them on and how to stop them."We ain't gonna study war no more " has been been called unpatriotic by the merchants of doom who allways say god is on thier side.A military historian with no matter how many degrees they hold is an educated fool with a cynical view of life.

5. solon, It's not just you. They're screwed. There will be a horse

race between (a) "management's" plan to remove him and put their own boy in and (b) a serious populist driven demand that he go and, perhaps, be replaced with someone the public trusts. It's clear that he's "out there" even for the powers that be, to wit Buffett's comments about America becoming a "sharecropper nation." When people like him make statements like this, you can be sure "management" is ready to move.

Nixon was not nearly this bad and he was gone within a year of his landslide victory. How long can * last, doing much more damage, after a stolen election?

We need a clear Democratic leader we can put up to replace this clown and make sure we don't get someone like Powell.

6. I'm tired of all the threats. Bush threatening Democrats regarding . . .

the 2006 elections. Stating that if the Congressional Democrats kept opposing his and the Republican's ideas, they will learn the hard way in the ballot box. (FYI-- sorry there is a long rant below. Read at your own risk).

I guess when you or your friends own stock in the company that makes that particular ballot box as well as have the owner of the company one of your backers, you can get by with threats like that.

Also, I'm sick of the people being attacked because of their bumper stickers by these so-called Christians. Even cops threatening to arrest people if they have anti-Bush stickers. What a bunch of immature babies.

I'm sick of their lies and I just want to tell all you Republicans out there that voted for Bush . . . I hope you are happy with your decision now? The man has all but kissed the credit card company's asses so God help you if you become ill and lose an income. Plus, if a doctor is negligent and it causes a death, the amount you can sue for is capped. This so-called war on Terrorism. The unbelievable loss of life and the unbelievable profits for the few American Company's that were selected without any bidding. Bush's trip to Europe to make amends. Yeah right, so in June, I hear we are going into Iraq (possibly behind Israel and/or to back them up). The messes in Iran, China, Syria, Israel.

You people that voted for Bush need to quit listening to Coulter and Limbaugh and baby Limbaugh, and buy a book, buy a newspaper, do something to stimulate your brains. Republicans walk around with a bitter taste in their mouths and all they want to do is put those of us down that may have a different opinion.

Always remember, "No one is ever promised tomorrow." That happened to my husband and myself (my health) a couple years ago and I'm now on disability. I use to make $35,000.00 a year and now get $11,000.00 a year from disability. We had to go through a bankruptcy. It is one of the most humiliating, degrading experiences I have ever had to go through. We wanted to pay our bills, after all, we made the bills and should pay them.

However, those credit card companies continued to raise their interest on us during the time we were struggling. We had great credit before (the year before had bought a new car and got it at 7% interest). When the other companies saw we were struggling, those interest rates went up to 22% from 9%, ONLY because we had started paying the minimum payments and they automatically run credit checks every 3 months. It's in that little TOS pamphlet you get when you get your card. At least, that is what I was told. Since they raised the interest rates, and would not drop them back down, if we had paid just the minimum payments (like we had been doing before, and was only able to do before), we weren't even going to be paying enough to take care of the interest each month). I tried calling, asking if they would work with us. NOPE!

I got a call from J. C. Penny one morning. This woman screamed and ranted at me. It was about 8 a.m. and this woman was screaming at me like she was going to come and take my soul as payment.

WARNING: These so-called free services for credit counseling are not free. They do handle your creditors so you do not get the calls; however, they have a fee in there every month as well. As IF we needed another bill. Also, they couldn't get any of them to come down on their interest and wanted us to pay them almost everything we had coming in a month to meet the creditors.) Screw us having food, clothes, needed medication, etc.

We were not living above our means either. I just got sick and we lost income of $24.000.00 a year. Makes a HUGE difference in what you can and cannot afford. We've had to give up a lot of things still.

Luckily, the bankruptcy laws were there to help to protect us.

I live in the State of Virginia. Virginia has no caps on interest rates for credit.

The least those jerks in Washington could've done was put a cap on interest rates. Nahhhhh! That would not be good business. (Idiots)
