He's far, far away when the bodies are counted.

His part is over.

7. Does anyone care about a protest in California anymore?
Edited on Mon Mar-14-05 04:29 PM by Radical Activist
Yes, California has lots of liberals who like to protest. We know already.
I wish some of these national groups would put more effort into organizing protests and events that aren't on the west coast, New York or DC once in a while.

13. I see the link
has been posted. There are 365 events listed so far.

Questions is, what effort have YOU put into organizing protests and events.

If there isn't something in your area, why don't you help make it happen?

16. Normally, like this time, only one or two are declared major gatherings
Edited on Mon Mar-14-05 05:12 PM by Radical Activist
One in DC or New York and another in California. There's a difference between that and a local group working without the help of a national organization. I thought the distinction was obvious when I made my first post, but you're the third person to ignore it.

And FYI, the last protest I organized was against Dick Cheney shortly before the election. There were over 500 people who showed up in a small midwestern town. It got more area news coverage than any protest of any size in DC would ever get.

19. Yes, I know. I plan to be there.
Of course, it will only be people from the Chicago area, not a national protest that might make a bigger impact.

The Weight of a Snowflake

"Tell me the weight of a snowflake," a coalmouse asked a wild dove. "Nothing more than nothing," the dove answered.
"In that case I must tell you a marvelous story," the coalmouse said. "I sat on a fir branch close to the trunk when it began to snow. Not heavily, not in a raging blizzard. No, just like in a dream, without any violence at all. Since I didn't have anything better to do, I counted the snowflakes settling on the twigs and needles of my branch. Their number was exactly 3,471,952.
When the next snowflake dropped onto the branch--nothing more than
nothing -- as you say -- the branch broke off."

Having said that, the coalmouse ran away. The dove, since Noah's time an authority on peace, thought about the story for a while. Finally, she said to herself, "Perhaps there is only one person's voice lacking for peace to come to the world." - Source unknown

22. Boston protest & rally is March 20 (DU meet-up in Cambridge after)
TWO YEARS AFTER THE INVASION OF IRAQ
PROTESTS AND RALLY
MARCH 20
BOSTON COMMON
1:00 PM

Anti-war groups all over the world are planning demonstrations for the second anniversary of the U.S. invasion of Iraq. United For Peace and Justice has called for local demonstrations in towns and cities all over the U.S.

Over 50% of the people in this country are against the War in Iraq. If just a fraction of them make their voices heard on March 20, WE WILL BE HEARD!

Demonstrations in Boston could represent a significant step forward in the direction of building a massive organized opposition to the war in Boston and across the United States.

Plan to be there, and bring everyone you know!

33. You should probably make your own. I have never seen them
giving them out here in LA but your own town might have them. I'd bring something just in case.

We did have a problem getting on the subway with signs with "sticks" so I suggest getting foamboard to make your sign with.
