it will probably only be for an hour or so--around 2pm--but I should be able to make it this year. It's at Rowan Street Park, which is where I'll meet you folks.

Where will the DU group be?

I talked my assistant manager into letting me come in at 9 instead of 10 in exchange for a two-hour lunch break. So! It's protest time for me! See y'all there!

35. deliver this message.....

Sadly, wp insists that the Iraq WAR CONTINUE, so we can get all the OIL...and many people do not agree....here's the message posted by the BRAVE AND COURAGEOUS Gold Star Mothers for Peace, after wp TRASHED them continuously....many of us are SICK over wp....and wondering why he crossed to the DARK SIDE....pathetic that wp stole time on this critical weekend from the major movers and shakers...

Dear Will,

Also, your views have the effect of invalidating what I, my organization, Gold Star Families for Peace, and other peace groups are doing to bring our troops home immediately, if not sooner.

9. You bet your sweet ass, I am. :)
The people in charge of the march have worked really hard to coordinate it. So much goes on behind the scenes. I'm amazed and humbled by the concerted efforts of so many.

Unless I'm ill, I'm going and I'm marching. I'm not sure how much good it will do, but at least I'll feel like I did something. Lately, I've felt really powerless.

Said so in his speech yesterday. We don't want to disappoint him, now do we?

There's only two choices in Oklahoma tho, D and R. Really tough ballot restrictions down here. You can be registered independent, too, but that means no primary vote.

Kucinich was the first ever and only pol I could really beleive, get behind and work for.

51. I'm having a hard time mustering the motivation
I am in NYC and I have been out protesting WAY TOO MUCH these last four years? It feels futile to me at this point. I am exhausted. Nobody's listening except the choir. What's the point?

52. Understand, completely.
At times, it does seem as if this only resonates with the choir.

But, that's not really true. Think of it this way: If you only encourage one of us, you've kept one more person active. If your action registers with someone not on board, you've helped lift the evil cloud.

I'm in San Francisco. And will be out with husband and dog and ballons, bells, whistles, anything. This is our fight.

peace,
Beth

65. Even if America isn't paying attention, the rest of the world is.
Right now, it would be easy to construe America as a nation consisting
solely of thugs, eager only to bomb nations to take their oil.

By standing and protesting, *YOU* can help us make the statement
that not all Americans are like this and not all Americans support
the Bush regime. In the long run, we may really need the good will
of the rest of the world to get out of this mess alive.

62. complain much? there are MANY chances on those sites to DO YOUR OWN event

all these events are done by VOLUNTEER people....regular Americans who STAND UP, and make a few phone calls, get their friends out there, ask their biker club, or their bowling club to get together on your local street corner...

some people are going out there ALL BY THEMSELVES, with a sign, in a park....that's all it takes...

all the links that I provided to you contain LOTS of information on HOW to put together an event....completed with downloadable kits, signs to print out, EVERYTHING....all put together by VOLUNTEERS...

and those are NOT the only sites...there are many MORE sites on the internet...and if you spent the time, you COULD find an event right near YOU....

in addition, there are discount and FREE buses and car-pooling to all the bigger cities in America....students who VOLUNTEER at the events usually ride/house FREE...there's lots of ride/housing boards...many people are donating money for the charter buses, to pay for those who have no funds....

IMO, you don't want to go to an event....seems you want to just WHINE WHINE WHINE on this board....shame on you....

EVERYBODY who gets out in streets this weekend is a REAL AMERICAN...I don't care what their religion, race, or nationality....they are to be COMMENDED and PRAISED....to those who whine and criticize: shame on you....

81. What complaint? Saying I won't go to chruch is construed as a complaint?
Do you attack strangers much? I presume you do, since you attacked me and since all you know about me is that I refuse to attend the local Baptist chruch. I only complain when necessary, and the complaining did not start until you provoked it, but now, a little complaining has certainly become necessary, so hold onto your hat! Do you think I don't have any right to decline to attend a church service? I am about fed up with the bogus Jesus juice, and will not sit through an hour of it just because a totally pompous, supercillious stranger, like yourself, thinks I should. You pretend to encourage everyone to join the protest, but it seems you thought it would inpire comarderie if you took an abusive approach. Your attitude is so totally rude! Keep your bogus church, and your pompous directives about what everyone else should do to yourself next time. Thanks.

79. Right, thanks for the info, all of the events you mentioned are not less
than 300 miles away. Arizona is very big. There is one event scheduled near me, but it is billed as a "vigil with prayers to end the war" at the local Baptist church. Not.

And we can't make it to the nearest rally in Fort Worth, so we gotta sit this one out. Bummer.

Nothing that would make it onto local media radar, though. Wonder how the Fort Worth rally went?
