Can You Feel it?
This may be because I am paying closer attention then i used to but it seems like people in this country are really starting, just starting, to get fed up with all of this shit. It seems like all of this stuff that the republicans are doing is just testing everyone's patients and people are starting to get sick of it. Look at a few poll numbers. Bush and his entire base and the media and bill maher said that the iraq elections were a complete success. If this all happened two years ago, Bush would have a 70% approval rating right now, that would last for months. However, after the iraqi elections, Bush's approval feel a few points. Also, the approval for the Iraq war is now in the upper 30's, down about 15-20 points from December. Plus, only about 50% of people now feel that bush is tough on terrorism, which is down about 10 points since December. Also, look at the approval for the strongly republican congress. It was at 45% in February and now is 37%. I am not sure if it is happening yet but it seem like people, definitely democrats and independents but also republicans are getting tired of bush and all of his bush shit. Does anyone else feel this too?

3. But the GOP base is getting really, really fired up
Sure, we're hoping it will all eventually blow up in their holier-than-thou faces, but what this tanking popularity is doing in the short term is motivating the True Believers to become even more in-your-face arrogant.

I'm seeing more and more "W '04" and even "Bush-Cheney '04" stickers, especially on big-ass SUVs, and even the long-lost relic of painfully tattered U.S. flags flapping from car windows seems to be returning.

I fear the great American polarization is about to go from bad to worse.

11. Good question, Carolab.
The truth of the matter is, I see more bu$h/Chee-knee stickers on vehicles in Arkansas now than I did before the Supposed Election. The Last Stand of the Reich Wing will certainly be made in the South.

6. I felt it even before the election
But that didn't seem to change anything. They still stole the election and we all knew and couldn't do anything about it. The continue to lie and cover up every geopolitical move they make. The interests of our government don't revolve aroung the common citizens, but only the ultra-wealthy. Revolution is the only way.

12. got the guts for it
Revolution is the only way.

Remember the film footage of Fallujah? Got the guts, much less the guns, for that kind of fight?

If not, then your only options are to a. push Chairman Dean to promote a true Democratic platform and not this watered down duck hunting Kerry BS or b. STFU.

10. Kerry instilled doubt in people,
but they still voted for Bush -- out of fear, and because Kerry's message did not receive good press coverage. The fear is subsiding somewhat, but what people were able to hear of Kerry's message stays in the backs of their minds. Kerry needs to stay out there as a spokesman. Ordinary people believed and trusted him much more than the election would suggest. His message was just too new to people. They needed proof. As Bush continues to mess up on so many levels, Bush is giving them proof of Kerry's message, and that message is beginning to sink in. We just have to stay on message. So does Kerry. I am not endorsing him as a candidate for 08 just yet, I'm just describing how I think the process of changing minds is working here.

13. Kerry instilled doubt about himself
What was all this parading around with shotguns for?? The next thing probably was him riding around in a '66 Chevy pickup with a confederate flag on the back to show that he too was a 'good ole boy'. We need leadership and not this hiding in the middle of the road crap.

17. Only people I've seen parroting these points are ...
those that want to reinforce the repub talking points. Have a problem w/ all dem politicians, or just Dean & Kerry? How does a thread referring to repub failures turn into a Kerry/Dean bash?

Never mind, I think it's pretty clear!

It's either the war(s), the economy, gas prices, or Terry Schiavo, but something is close to taking the country over the edge.

18. The idiots do not have ALL the guns
Edited on Sun Mar-20-05 01:54 PM by Jose Diablo
There is a sizable part of the democratic landscape that never bought in to 'gun control'. It's a big tent, remember?

As for the south, in spite of many in the party looking smug and acting superior to those of us that like NASCAR auto racing, even live in trailers and also referred to affectionately as 'trailer trash' by both parties, many of us are members of the Democrat party, contributing members I might add.

As more and more people drift-in to live in trailer parks, because thats all they can afford, you can bet many of these new downwardly mobile people will see the Republican party with a new set of glasses. IF, and thats a big IF, the Democratic Party can lose that image that many in this party and the Republican Party also encourage, that Democrats are 'elite snobs' from up north someplace, maybe, just maybe, the south can once again become Blue.

Because here is the truth, the Democrat Party ain't going anywhere without the south, just hold that thought.
