Poll question: Which forum is more representative of the US public? DU or FreeRepublic?
What would you say? I'm curious what others think. I've been to FR a few times and the ignorance and hatred there is truly stunning. I think it can be argued that the ignorance there is more representative of the US public.

Of course it can be said that neither is representative, because we are both at extremes ideaologically.

But as a binary poll, which would you say is closer to being representative?

DU :yourock: and you are 'oh so popular' with the masses whenever they hear the truth about our thriving cyber democracy.

2. Really, neither, because as you said both forums,
despite the variations of liberal thought on DU (liberals, moderates, radicals), there is a clear agenda. At least DU allows for free discourse and disagreement, unlike FR.

3. Most americans are pro-choice. Most are for civil unions...

Most are for reducing the number of troops in iraq. Most believe the Iraq War was the wrong thing to do. Most are against Bush's SS plan. Most want to be able to import Canadian Drugs.

i'd say we are closer....

OH! forgot one...MOST ARE FOR UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE!

4. Basic attitudes of the American people are more similar to DU
than free republic. However, the ignorance level of the average American is probably closer to Free Republic.

5. Majority of Americans say Iraq invasion was wrong thing to do;
Majority of Americans say bush is taking the US in the wrong direction.

Majority of Americans want the US to join the ICC.

Majority of Americans oppose war of aggression as official policy.

Majority of Americans oppose all of bush's policies.

That makes DU representative of the American majority.

6. Many Freepers are paid political operatives. Many are delusional.
Many are just the mean spirited who found a home .. finally.. under Bush.

That is not America.. America is not a land of bad information, made up history and liars.

7. I can not say. The country seems to be almost an even mix.
Or it is how they are voting. I tend to think that free Rep. is more the far end of that party as I grew up in a Gop home and no one thought like they do. I do not think Ike would have understood those people.
