What does America think about Congress and the Terry Schiavo case?
87% of Americans say they would want the tube pulled if they were in Terry's position. Doesn't it freak people out to think this is the business of congress?

Why don't the 87% say "what's up with this?"

I don't get that they keep electing these bimbos.

1. Thanks for starting a Terry Schaivo thread
we really need to drop our other nonsense and focus some time and attention on this case.

7. NOT!
Perhaps Skinner will set up a separate room for the Schaivo-heads.

2. The media doesn't care what America thinks about it
as long as they don't think about the war, GannonGate, Social Security... anything to keep Americans from hearing real news.

3. This is political grandstanding
of the worst sort. Congress thinks it can get some points with the militant Christians otherwise they wouldn't be bothered. She is a political football, nothing more. Yes people should have the sense to question their representatives, but people very often don't do what they should. Roughly half of us voted for Bush. That was wrong too, and I'm never going to understand it.

Where have they been all these years this has gone on? They don't give a damn about the American people, let alone one woman that's been in a coma for 15 years!

The Repukes have shown their dislike for American citizens over and over again these last few weeks. Just look at the Bankruptcy Bill, their refusal to raise the minimum wage, the ANWR fiasco, the high gas prices, the high unemployment rate, the lack of equipment for our soldiers, the on-going campaign to screw us all out of our Social Security, etc. Everthing they do smells of their absolute contempt for the people of America AND the world!

It's all about them! It has nothing at all to do with Terry Schiavo or her family.

So, at the 11th hour they jump into something that Jeb Bush wants to push in an effort to show everyone they have a heart (and coincidently, try to make the Dems look bad...again)? This is nothing but a political game.

It's nothing but another distraction from whatever else is really on their agenda and it's DeLay's desperate act to downplay all his legal problems.

I feel sorry for the family as this continues to go on and on for them. It's a lesson to all of us to WRITE out our wishes in case something like this happens to one of us (God forbid).

8. Ratings Echo Chamber...
This is manufactured "news"...it replaces real journalism and any concept of airing information that could reflect negatively on the corporate world or this regime. It's television for red-state, Faux viewers who CNNServative thinks is their salvation from ratings oblivion. It's also cheaper to make up news then to go out and actually report it...unless it's a hurricane.

This story is a (pardon the pun) "no-brainer" for most rational people as they relate strongly to the fear of what if this happened to them and how they'd loath being in that same situation. But it's also been perverted with all sorts of right wing codewords and religious right subliminal messages that have turned this from a story about a family dispute regarding health care to a morality play about "souls" and when is dead dead. The reverse of the abortion debate...this one equally situated, but for the right wingers it's an issue that's been beat into them with such fervor that it's one of the right wing's more favorite diversions.

It helps reinforce the image of us "libruls" being "immoral" since we want this lady to starve to death and die, die, die. They ignore the laws and facts, deny medical science and need to be told they're right over and over to make this parallel universe revolve.
