Protesters check in here
Blue-Jay and I were in Chicago with thousands of others. We have lots of great pics! We'll post them later.

He dropped me off at work so I can't write much now, but I'll have more later.

Who else was in the streets today?

Dag Hammarskjold to Times Square (cut off from Recruiting Station), the group that made it to the Recruiting Station, and Central Park.

As far as I know, there were other groups.

9. You're welcome, and what does this turnout,
or lack of, say about Houston, the 4th largest city in the country? I thought there would be more pissed-off souls, so I was disappointed. But the ones that were there proudly represented all Dems and voiced their lack of support for this bogus war.

10. I was in Springfield, IL on business
My daughter and I joined about 25 others in front of their Capital Bldg. Lots of support by passing motorists in a very "red" area. In my hometown of Appleton, WI my husband said there were about 25 out with signs.

14. Way to represent!
I think the smaller ones are perhaps even more important than the big ones. After all, people expect that from the "city folk," not their own neighbors.

11. Kevsand and I went out with Material Girl--her first protest! Champaign
Edited on Sat Mar-19-05 10:11 PM by davsand
80-100 people at the peak of it--maybe 100-150 that came and went over the duration of it. I thought it was fairly well received by people passing thru.

Material Girl (with all of the outrage available to a 7 year old) asked in the car afterward if Dubya is the most stupid President ever. We then had an excellent discussion about the fact that unless we speak out when we disagree we will cease to be free.

I told her that the protest is what Democracy looks like. "It's Cool." was her response...

12. I was in Anchorage...
We had a great protest and march here, probably close to 100 people, and lots of people honking their support as they drove by. I'll post pictures later.

13. Raising hand!!! My family and I marched in Chattanooga
From one park to another in downtown. Music, speakers, music followed by a candlelit prayer vigil that started at 7:00 p.m. We had around 120 marching and a few more at the rally site. Not bad considering where we are - repug central.

It was so uplifting to be in a group of people who want PEACE.

Edited on Sat Mar-19-05 11:16 PM by shakerbaker
We stopped traffic into Vancouver on the Burrard St Bridge and made a circle around town to Sunset Beach.Looking back I'd say we were 3 blocks long-500-1000? Other Americans were there too.I was great being with such uplifting people.
