Jackpot Dreams Dashed By Misprint
(CBS/AP) Monica Braggs won $100,000 when
she scraped the winning combination playing a
New York tabloid newspaper's promotional
Scratch n' Match game.

Or so she thought, until the Daily News
announced a misprint that left thousands falsely
believing they were in the money.

"I went to bed $100,000 richer, and it was taken
away just like that," she told the New York Post,
which lambasted its rival in a full-page spread.

Braggs, a Harlem catering company owner, said
she had to cancel the trip to Disney World she
booked for her family, including her 11-year-old
grandson.

Daily News officials said D.L. Blair, the agency
that runs the contest, was responsible for the
error that left many people believing they had won prizes up to $100,000.

this was the tail end story on CBS evening news. Didn't see where it had come through here today in LBN, and would have posted there...but the warning page popped up advising about LBN and frivolous news...and this may fit that category...

all the same, there were some pissed off winners. Guess i would be too.

1. Seems to me they should be liable for the prizes anyway.
I wonder what the law says about this.

2. I think it deserves a Congressional hearing
maybe some new legislation to get these folks their money.

:D
