Life is sacred, but not THAT sacred. That's why Bush signs the bill in Texas that basically lets hospitals discontinue care whenever someone can't pay.

It seems that the entire repug leadership is trying to find a way so that Schiavo is the only person for whom this new ethic of life counts, so they don't have to pay for a bunch of people in PVS. For everyone else, they are hoping that their families are charter members of Death With Dignity.

It's basically an admission that they don't want anyone finding any generally applicable principles. Why? Because principles bind them from taking future inconsistent actions, becasue it is a restraint on power. The greatest power is the power to be arbitrary. The ability to pick and chose which principles to apply, if any, allows maximum power that allows maximum pandering that allows maximum power.

So when its a black baby born to a poor family, the hospital gets to choose. When its a white women with religious parents, the religious get to choose.

Polls are showing overwhelming numbers of people are both in favor of allowing the tube to be pulled and their seeing this story in a negative light.

People are tuning in, but many are mad, not happy with what they're seeing...the networks are starting to feel the heat...but they're in too deep to just step away.

Fox's own polls are showing this and my bets are O'Reilly's the one who covers this hideous network's ass with many of their viewers who aren't fully kool-aided.

What would be interesting to see, but doubt it will happen (since there are way more right wing Drug Limbo types out there than Jay Sevrins) to see a fight between "moderate" and fundie/wing nut Repugnicans...this is an issue that could do it...and now will a network see this as a possible ratings bonanza and exploit it? Reading this MSGOP???
