congratulations to DU's Minstrel Boy
His blog was linked from The Washington Post today. Dan Froomkin's excellent column "White House Daily Briefing"

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/politics/administration/whbriefing/

It's down under the subtitle "Bush and the Bald." Third link in the paragraph.

8. MB adding every little lie together
What if I told you it was done with mirrors
What if I showed you it was all a lie
Better be careful, someone might hear ya
The walls have ears and the sky has eyes
What if I said you were only dreamin'
What you wanna bet that all you gotta do
Is open up your eyes and you will wake up screamin'
When you realize that it's all come true?

Hush, now don't you believe it
Cover your head and close your eyes
Now, take it or leave it
Go back to bed
Now don't you cry

Half a million soldiers fly across the water
One in ten are never comin' back again
Fifty thousand sons who never grew to fathers
Don't you ever wonder who they might have been
What if you could've been there on that day in Dallas
What if you could wrestle back the hands of time
Maybe somethin' could've been done in Memphis
We wouldn't be livin' in a dream that's died

Go on and tell yourself again there are no secrets
Go on and tell yourself that you don't want to know
It's best that you believe that you don't hear the footsteps
That follow you around no matter where you go
Maybe you were thinkin' that it didn't matter
Maybe you believed nobody else would care
But once you've added every little lie together
You finally find the truth was always waiting there

Steve Earle

Congrats Minstrel Boy :loveya:

I'd do a screen shot if I knew how.

I think we need a Duer hall of fame forum for press that Duers get!

12. Thanks!
Though it's kind of embarrassing - and, well, sad - that it's the most frivolous thing that's got the most mainstream attention.

When The Post links to a me for a story about 9/11, or mind control, that'll really be something!

17. Whoo boy...isn't that sad? The frivolous gets linked while the really
damning work you've done gets ignored.

Hopefully those who go to the link will stick around long enough to get their eyes REALLY opened.

25. True, but the first step is that they are reading DU posts WITHOUT the
the aim of cherrypicking to smear "liberal bloggers" as was done on Ted Koppel's show on January 19:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=203&topic_id=294367

Congratulations! This is a good sign, frivolous topic or not.

20. RigInt. ConDuit for synchro-serendipity !
art..the synthesis of opposites?

found this amazing "event" synchronicity-ology through his blog:

A new, and very short
Introduction to
Of Sky Signs, Avalanches,
and the Synchronicity Fuse
May 23rd 2003

The following visual essay does not honour the usual organizing principles of corporate news coverage.
It got under way on Sunday, February 2nd 2003: the day after the explosion of the space shuttle Columbia.

Since then, it has continued to evolve, because February 1st proved to be one of those rare, strange days when the unrepeatable conjoined unrepeatably, spinning multiple semantic links whose relationship to orthodoxy may be somewhat skewed, but which may nevertheless, in some unresolved way, mean.

This essay seeks to discern, with utmost tentativeness, a pattern, if pattern there is, in these conjunctions, which recalled the ancient Greek concept not of sequential time, or chronos, but of eruptive time, or kairos.

And if I may conclude this introduction with a simple request:

If you are going to presume to judge this visual text, please take the time to read it.

28. cartwheels joy-whistles & footstomping cheers ~~~
for Minstrel Boy & his Rigorous Intuition !!!

It was MB's blog that brought me to DU to read in the first place (October) & only post-election despair + computer crash delayed me registering here to post till just recently.

MB: thanks for your extraordinary gutsiness, tenacity, & risk-bearing honesty, plus some of the most lucid & eloquent writing to be found in the blogosphere - no matter the subject.

Please do let us know what's up with your, um, quality-of-traffic on RI in the next few days, OK? & take care.

42. I love how, much earlier in the piece, Froomkin refers to
"The Toronto Globe and Mail." That's kind of a national joke name for the paper, which is supposed to be national but is suspiciously Hogtown-centric.

Anyway, that bemusment notwithstanding, big congratulations Minstrel Boy! Fellow Canuck makes good - that's always grand.
