PHOTOS: all across USA, we STAND UP for Peace: the WAGE PEACE campaign

Find out how to WAGE PEACE
http://www.afsc.org/eyes/default.htm

Eyes Wide Open, the American Friends Service Committee’s widely-acclaimed exhibition on the human cost of the Iraq War, features a pair of boots honoring each U.S. military casualty, a field of shoes and a Wall of Remembrance to memorialize the Iraqis killed in the conflict, and a multimedia display exploring the history, cost and consequences of the war

At each stop, person after person leaves notes of commemoration, photographs of lost soldiers, identification tags, flowers, and American flags to accompany the boots on their journey.

Although a majority of Americans now believe this war is a tragic misadventure, the human cost of the Iraq War grows every day. How many more boots will be standing at silent attention before this war ends, before Iraqis and American soldiers are out of harm's way?

This traveling exhibit is a memorial to those who have fallen and a witness to our belief that no war can justify its human cost.

A display of shoes, photos, and names represent a fraction of the Iraqi civilians killed in the war.

One visitor is overwhelmed by the display honoring civilian casualties.

Fitchburg, Maine

1,000 pairs of civilian shoes depict only a small portion of Iraqi casualties.

participate in any way you can. This exhibit came to Dallas several weeks ago. You can find the pics and the stories at the afsc website.

This group needs all the help they can get from the communities they take this exhibit to in the to following days (may we all hope it is only days and not months or years). Look them up and help if you can and in any way that you feel you can. (All I did was go down and help them set up all the shoes on the 2nd morning, it was a wind chill of 32 freezing. It was cold and I was out of shape, it felt good to be there doing something.)

Unfortunately for all of the different City Groups/Associations/ Coalitions built, we, Dallas had the dubious honor of being the 1st display to be targeted by "protestors", protesting this event/display and Dallas made "history" for this traveling display, the Protest Warriors struck again in Dallas with the aid of HateRadio, KLIF and the morning and evening programs, Duane/Dwayne and someone else, I just can't seem to keep his name in my brain and I am sad to say BELO helped along with Channel 13. The first time, ever, in all the cities this display had visited already, that the citizens of said cities held a "Counter Protest".! What a sad commentary for all citizens of this "metroplex". (Sad for me, I have issues even pulling up their website or the www.protestwarrior.com group they promote.) What a sad commentary for the Dallas City Council and the Mayor of this town.)

Okay, off personal rant, please, anyone with the opportunity, go to and take part in.
