Pope Conspiracy Theory...
Sources close to the Pontiff are leaking that the Pope actually died at 11:59pm April 1st. They kept him on ice for a while until it was safely April 2nd. You know, it being April Fools and all....

4. I am not at liberty to disclose my sources, Wonk.
I wouldn't want to blow their cover. After all, many monks have been murdered for much less.

3. If true
they kept him alive for a long time! He almost died on April 3rd! He passed on at almost 9pm Italian time.

6. I mean NO disrespect to Catholics or their church,
your beliefs and the faith you choose to embrace are your business, but that was my theory about the timing of the annoucement of the Pope's death. And I definitely don't have anything against church leaders for doing that IF they in fact did. Maybe it would have hurt people more to have the Pope remembered as having passed away on April Fool's day, is what I think their rationale may have been.
