anyone else sick of the Pope-bashing and Catholic-bashing going on here?

all of it comes from those claiming that they are NOT Catholics, (which includes those who claim to have once been a Catholic and now choose to be a non-Catholic)....

some non-Catholics are engaged in very serious attacks against Catholics and Catholic beliefs....some start by claiming that they are sorry for the great loss, and THEN bash Catholics...

The Catholic Church is the biggest Church in America and in the World...and there are very good reasons for that, which many here simply do not care to look into and deliberately show their massive ignorance....

taking advantage of Catholics grieving their great loss, is sad and pathetic behavior...

6. Some of us have restrained ourselves...
Because of the sorrow you obviously feel. We (nonbelievers) understand that it is a deep and genuine sorrow. But that doesn't mean we've all converted. Don't shove it in my face and I won't shove it in yours, OK?

It's an internet discussion board. Not everyone is going to agree with you. Use the "hide thread" feature.

...to examine a person's legacy upon their death, especially one who's life has affected this nation. How one does that is another matter.

If one does it in a crass and demeaning manner, then one wonders whether their priorities are really to change the current political landscape, or to reinforce the current political and moral divide.

5. It's an old story
Some have legitimate quarrels with Church doctrine. Of course, many more who have the same quarrels didn't hate the Pope.

Most of the posters hate Catholics because they were raised that way.

8. I hate being preached to, that's all.
It's probably one of the most insulting things you can do to a person. I wasn't raised to "hate" Catholics. I was born and raised in a very Catholic home. I just HATE being preached to, y'know?

11. true...some commit adultery...to hurt others as much as they can

and continue such hate here, against Catholics in their time of mourning...

whenever people decide that 'rules' don't apply to them...for example, stealing and adultery and disrespect for their parents...their answer is to totally reject the Catholic 'rules' and lash out here in hate and bigotry...

it's sad and pathetic....these people feel no shame...and lack conscience...

10. I didn't mean my threads to be Catholic bashing
-if this is in any way directed at me-

I meant them to show that the Fundie RW'ers WERE Catholic bashers of the worst sort but have reigned in that part of their crowd for purely political reasons.

12. This is flame bait.
I know that this is a difficult time for many of us, but I think the claims of "Pope-bashing" and "Catholic-bashing" are overblown. I think by any measure, most DU members -- including DU members with legitimate disagreements with the Catholic Church -- have been remarkably respectful during this time.

If you think a particular post really is "Catholic-bashing" please hit alert. But please keep in mind that respectful and non-inflammatory criticism of the Church is permitted.

I am locking.
