If Every Jot and Tiddle is Infallible…

Then please tell me not be concerned over Deuteronomy 13.

1. Context, my friend. Context.

You have to understand, that God didn't want his people worshipping false gods. Under the Mosaic law, the penalty was death. The good news is that Christ's sacrifice on the Cross did away with all those civil laws, and thankfully, we don't kill idolaters. The law is still in effect spiritually though, as those who stray from God's path, as far as God is concerned, will pay a price (spiritually).

3. So My Error is Literal Interpretation?

So that as a free-agent I may well come to a different conclusion?

9. No. I mean that that passage becomes less problematic when
you consider the context.

12. Matthew 5:17
- Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

13. That's what I said. Christ doesn't destroy the law, but
for those who are saved by grace, the curse of the law is of no effect, meaning that Christ becomes our example. The law brings knowledge of sin, and draws one to Christ.

I'm just saying that many of the civil laws are under the old covenant, but the principles haven't changed.

2. He's not infallible over every 'jot and tiddle'
Only twice in 2000 years has the Pope declared himself to be 'infallible': over the nature of the Trinity and over Mary.

6. Every 'jot and tittle is infallible' refers to The Bible, not the Pope
Not that I personally believe either is infallible, but the phrase "every jot and tittle" was (allegedly) said by Jesus in reference to the Law of Moses.

Modern Christians have conveniently interpreted it to retroactively include the hobbled together collection of narratives and letters known as "The New Testament".
