Home on the range

Oh, give me a home, where the buffalo roam,
Sorry, we killed those off a century ago

Where the deer and the antelope play,
Dang, you’re too late, the antelope was run over by a Haliburton truck.

Where seldom is heard a discouraging word,
Gasoline nears $4 per gallon, Health Care up 15%, More die in Iraq, Fundamentalism is on the march, Liar confirmed by Senate as Secretary of State, Secretary of Homeland Security, Attorney General, UN Ambassador

And the skies are not cloudy all day.
Bush enacts Clear Skies, pollution up

All together now, Home, Home on the range...

1. Believe it or not, that is the Kansas state song.
Our new motto is "Kansas, as biggoted as you think!"

3. Ha, ha that's what we had when I was a kid.
It wasn't that fancy though. It burned wood and coal.

4. I've always kind of wanted an Aga woodburning stove....

Except it takes a lot of work and firewood to keep lit...and firewood deliveries in the City of Chicago are expensive -- other than for the occasional weekend fireplace fire.

One of my now-deceased cousins in Luxembourg built (mostly by himself) a retirement house for him and his wife in their village. Now, this house wasn't much smaller or less fully appointed than their non-retirement house, but it was a labor of love for him. One of the unique features is that it had a wood-burning furnace. During the cold months, the house was filled with the scent of burning wood.

Great blog, Cleita. And a belated happy 65th birthday.
