CNN reports that Bush ''succeeds'' in Lebanon
Edited on Mon Apr-25-05 05:09 PM by wookie294
Lou Dobbs just reported that Bush has obtained a "major victory" from Syria's withdrawal from Lebanon today. What????

Hey Lou! Lebanon is not Iraq and Iraq is not Lebanon. Bush HAS NOTHING TO DO with events in Lebanon. Capiche?

The assassination of Lebanon's beloved former prime minister forced Syria out!

Americans are so freakin brainwashed.

3. Since when is Lebanon a fan of Bush or US?
Lebanon's greatest enemy is Israel, that cost it so many thousands of lives during the US-backed invasion of their nation. Since when will the Lebanese be pouring into the streets thanking OUR nation? They won't. But America's selective memory somehow turns this into a victory for Bush. W...T...F.

2. Lou Dobbs is fucked tonight
The whole lead-in was about the great progress in the Middle East. Three different talking heads poked up to tell us how phenomenal things were going in Afghanistan, in Iraq, in Lebanon...but you had to read their by-lines...Heritage Foundation, AEI...What the fuck, Lou? You were the last hope for the hopelessly right-wing CNN!

6. US ideological propoganda is progress?
US calling the shots in both Afghanistan and Iraq, both war-torn nations, and Israel/Palestine peace process at a stalemate. Is that progres?

7. I especially like CNN's report on wetlands returning to Iraq
While Iraq is going up in flames, CNN did a "feel-good" story about how Iraq's welands and marshes are returning to normal after we toppled Saddam. LMFAO!

10. The marsh story could have been big given context
Edited on Mon Apr-25-05 05:47 PM by Atman
This really is a big deal. The Marsh Arabs, about 200,000 at one time, who live in the area where the Tigres and Euphrates meet, were encouraged by George H. W. Bush to rise up and fight Saddam Hussien in the first Gulf War, assured of U.S. support. After said support never came, Saddam drained the marshes, and area the size of Wales, in his efforts to weed out those who opposed him, and exact revenge upon the Marsh Arab community. The entire population is said to have virtually disappeared. There also just happens to be some of Iraq's richest oil fields under the marshes, and Saddam defenders claimed he was merely trying to get at the oil and build new roads and develop the area for the Marsh Arabs. And if you believe that, I'll show you where the WMD are.
