31. Yup. Brownback or anyone like him will guarantee a Dem win
unless they run someone equally nutty. Any mainstream Democrat beats a hard-right Republican like Brownback.

5. A Bush/Frist ticket is more likely, in my opinion.
I think Jeb is their first choice. It's who the right wing media whores have been pushing.

4. Frist would be the most formidable opponent
and the one most likely to win.

DeLay is of course a joke.

Norm Coleman is the most beatable.

7. Nope
Frist is Bob Dole II

Dour, kind of scary looking, very un presidential. Nothing appealing about his personality. Strange eyes.

All we'd have to do is nominate someone with a small sense of humor and he'd be toast.

18. Bob Dole did not have the support of the Religious Reich, nor was the
Religious Reich nearly as powerful as they are now. Unfortunately, I think they are coming into ascendancy rather than declining in influence.

In 2004 the Religious Reich defeated the largest, best funded, most inclusive, most organized, most mobilized progressive coalition in United States history and elected a bumbling moron whose disastrous policies have made him likely the worst president in history.

Now they are trying to subvert the independent judiciary. And they are just getting started...

25. Election fraud beat the Dems in 2000, 2002 and 2004.
It's clear that the Reich has been growing in numbers and power. However, I think the stories about the strength of the Reich or the "values voters" was/is a cover story for the stolen elections and the corporate media dutifully transmitted this propaganda.

You're right that they're just getting started. However, since they came into power through a coup, "winners" and "losers" don't seem applicable when the citizen's votes don't count.

Hopefully, all those citizens who don't vote will start to see a reason to do so real soon. It would be hard to steal another election if all the previous non-voters all went to the polls and all voted Democratic.

15. Frist is very overrated.

This guy is the Republican version of Gray Davis just waiting to happen. People criticized Gore and Kerry for being too "cardboard." Can you imagine Frist going up against someone like this?

Frist doesn't have a chance.

as soon as he announced, his background would reveal that he was Bush's waterboy instantly.

in 2008. Norm Coleman is better at smiling, and at looking normal. He could play the part of Just Plain Folks for the Bush Dynasty Ticket.

23. George Allen and Sam Brownback should be on your poll.
Newt too. Even Condoleeza Rice. Don't leave off Cheney either (I mean the man did have the balls to pick himself for VP - who's to say he won't run?)

I agree about leaving out moderates like Rudy Giulliani and Chuck Hagel in that they won't ever get the nomination.

What about Mitch Romney (I've read he may run).

McCain - he has kissed the Bush butt so many times that I'm not convinced that he couldn't be nominated.

All in all, I think your list of possible nominees is damned short.

And I don't think Norm Coleman should be on the list at all. They may be grooming him to replace Frist as Senate Majority Leader.

If I was betting, I'd bet on a Jeb Bush/Bill Frist ticket.

Not sure who I think is more difficult or easy. Frist seems corpse like (and low on leading man style), but he does have the fundies in his pocket.

33. Stupid DU Liberals
It's stuff like this is why I'm embarrassed to say I'm a liberal anymore. 75% pick what most state is the toughest of the choices presented. So 75% want to go against the toughest choice instead of an unknown if they had their choice. Either this poll was freeped or DU'ers deserve what they get.
