1. He talks the talk..
But he rarely walks the walk. Bravo for Biden's efforts on Bolton so far, however, so at least the cup is not empty.

39. Yup, Joe is all about Joe
Methinks Biden's values mostly add up to "How can I get my face on TV more?" He is a showboat and grandstanders, but caves on the important stuff.

11. That "ass" is from a state where a major portion of the economy is banking
If you're really shocked he voted that way on bankruptcy, Biden is not the "ass" in this picture.

22. Even if you did take the money out of politics, he'd STILL have voted yes.
You see, his CONSTITUENTS have JOBS that rely on BANKING being happy. You know, constituents, the people that gave Biden his job? Remember them?

24. No, the thousands of people whose jobs haven't been outsourced yet.
Listen, I hate the bankruptcy bill too, but there was no way Biden could've voted against it. You can't convince me that there weren't more than a few people in Delaware who wanted this bill passed to make sure their jobs would be safer.

27. No, I'm not talking out of my ass.
Whether or not they're actually in trouble doesn't matter. The basic perception by ALL people is that if their companies are doing well they are less likely to lose their jobs. It is completely irrelevant that the banks are in fact doing just fine. Perception IS reality when it comes right down to it in politics.

If you can't get that, YOU'RE talking out of your ass.

Less than 10%

They are all incorporated there, but labor is cheaper elsewhere.

34. How were their jobs in danger if the bill didn't pass
It hadn't passed the last seven years it was introduced and the banks still enjoyed record-breaking profit last year.

Millions of Americans will be sold literally into servitude due to this bill. They will lose everything. Even the amendments, which would have softened this disgrace of a bill a little bit, exempting extreme medical bills, seniors etc. were all voted down by Biden.

I find his moral indignation over anything self-aggrandizing posturing. He's a creep.

35. Chill your stampede, dude. By your characterization, he instead
fucked the other 90%. BTW, I am sure that SOME of the 10% might draw a connection between the "health" of their employer and this bad bill, but half are below average in political/economic IQ.

It's all about framing, how Biden explains himself to his constituents.
If you see this as anything less than corporate whoring (follow the money), you need to open your eyes.

4. Biden is all bluster.....
Yeah, he's real tough when the camera is on but when it comes down to the wire I don't trust him one bit. He's like the person who talks trash to you when there's a crowd, and then when he gets you alone says "Oh I was just kidding about that." He has his moments but overall more than most politicans (who are all a little bit this way), my impression is that his first, last, and middle concern is making Joe Biden look good.

7. Camera, radio...basically he puts on a show....
..which is one thing when it's backed up by action. But with Biden there never seems to be more than a 50/50 chance of that. He can act pissed all that he wants, but until he does something that shows me he can and will take risks to put the party and the people above his own interests, it's just a show.

13. Biden sounded good, but what's talk if he votes with the
Republicans? I used to really like Biden, but now - after the bankruptcy vote (aka the "Citibank" vote) - I think he's the biggest phony in the Senate. I hope he doesn't run in 2008 . . . at least as a Democrat.

15. Personally I won't hate a guy based on one vote.....
....I understand that sometimes there are circumstances which I don't always understand. I'll disagree and be pissed about it but I won't completely dismiss them.

For me it's just that Biden's theatrics far outstrip his actual actions. If he had a voting record like Ted Kennedy then it would warrant him running his mouth like he does.

19. Like Herding Cats
Right now any voice that speak loudly and straight forward about the right wing and religious right's arrogance and power grabs is better than none. Shall we sit in silence and just let Dobson and his ilk decide what country this shall be?

Yes, I am upset with Biden as well as other Democrats who voted for the bankruptcy bill, however, going after a Democrat in a time when party solidarity is critical is so self-defeating. Yes, this bill should be repealed and the banks forced to stop their preditory lending practices, but this won't happen until we get Democrats in the majority in the House & Senate and can start really doing some mending of the damage this regime is doing. Dividing the party further in light of the critical election coming up next year ensures even bigger troubles.

I'd love nothing more than to see a Progressive challenge Biden in some future primary when there's a solid Democratic majority. For now, every vote in the Senate is valuable and we need unity to survive this onslaught.

Biden is a showboat and talks out of both sides of his mouth on many subjects, but this wasn't one of them. Neither was Bolton. While Boxer and Kerry brought out the dirt on Bolton, it was Biden & Dodd that swung Voinovich. Subtle, but effective and if Bolton's nomination goes down, I doubt many will realize the job Biden and Dodd did to make this happen.

....I'm nowhere near being one of those people who the minute a dem votes against something I'm for (or vice versa) that I demand their head on a silver platter.

I simply think what you said is 100% right. Biden talks loudly but it is too frequently out of both sides of his mouth.
