I blame George Bush for the increase in youth violence.
Edited on Wed Apr-27-05 07:51 AM by BiggJawn
This week, Judge Loretta Rush, Tippecanoe County Juvi Judge, is holding a series on teen violence. she says she is seeing an increase in the number of young violent offenders coming into her courtroom.

It's all Dumbya's fault.

Look, if the Right can blame the supposed loosening morals of our youth (Blow jobs aren't really sex, etc.) on Bill Clinton and Monica Whats-her-name...

What kind of example is this pretzeldent setting when he tries to resolve international difference by first shaking his mighty Enzyte-enhanced pecker at the world then sending our young people overseas to die for the flimsiest of reasons?
"He tried to KILL my Daddy!" "He has Weapons of Mass Destruction" "He was trying to buy Yoo-Rainy-Em from AFRICA!" "Freedom's on th' MARCH!"

Aren't the young murderers just "spreading Democracy" around their communities?

2. Well, if torture is a "frat prank" and not all that bad, then maybe teens
feel their violence isn't all that bad either. Afterall, The President encourages violence, his AG justifies it, and his SoD promotes it.

4. That's my point in a nutshell.
If our kids take their moral compass from our former President's Sexcapades(that should have NEVER become a public circus, much less a 70 Mega-buck Circus) Then why shouldn't they look at the Prezteldent and say "Yo! Might makes Right!"

The Army's free distribution of that "World Domination" (or whatever they call it) Video Game can't be helping much, either...

3. Maybe it's because ...
of growing poverty, lack of resources dedicated to the youth of this country, the rising cost of college coupled with decreases in financial assistance --------this (and so much more has occurred during Chimpy's reign), the economy probably has more to do with it than anything.

The abortion rate was lower under Clinton------due to economic stability in the middle and lower middle class (where there wasn't stability there was hope), it had nothing to do with Clinton's specific abortion policies ----- how does the "right" respond to that?

14. Don't worry.
The Reich-wing has a place for all these impoverished kids with no chance. It's called the draft. A fresh generation of cannon fodder for the oil machine.

5. Don't forget high unemployment, reduction is training programs,
sending high paying jobs overseas, reduction of people with health benefits. Exactly what are youth - and the rest of us unemployed - to do? And when you look and see the riches and most powerful people using violence whenever they don't get their way, there's no where else to go.

7. Have you already forgotten?
The First Lady has cured gang-related problems in America. I think she did this in January. Obviously you have not noticed all the great new opportunities available to young hoodlums today.

8. i have seen it in my boys. if bush hadnt taken office
adn we had a different type of administration, my boys would have been in a different enviroment they were learning from

i consciously allowed boys to start buying gi joes a couple years ago, even though i hate all that stuff and up until then had no toy guns ect........but i allowed because i saw a need for them to play out what was happening in the world, and resolve these things in peaceful way, putting them in their place. there are many things i see that have effected my boys. i am empathitic, so i think we have used these as opportunity to grow and be a better person, but it has taken a lot of time with boys. to put them in their place.

violence begets violence

our adults are so angry

we are in such judgement of each other and teaching this to our children

our relgion doesnt talk love, talks hate

yes........our children are being effected

10. Is there a rise in youth violence?
Anyway, I don't think most youth involved in violence could name the President.

11. Supposed to be.
But- Is that a function of more youths being violent, or just more youths, or the same ammount of youths getting more Press?

Last night's dinner topic was all the press "Predators" are getting these days. Shit, to read and watch the news, our kids have to run a gantlet of pedophiles just to get to the bus stop down the block. Better to buy a new H-2 to chaffeur them to school in. Is it REALLY that bad? I drive past my local elementary every day, I don't see legions of scruffy creeps in trench coats with bags of candy in their hands...

My point was that we need to ask if there is actually MORE incidents of child abduction in this country today, or is it actually just being reported as stories of national interest more. I think we're just hearing about them more. 10 years ago, 2 toddlers wandering off and drowning in a pond would have been a local, maybe state story. Now it's the lead-off story for "24-7 News Coverage".
(That's the problem with having "24-7" news. Eventually, there's nothing left to report but dog bites and donut store robberies)

13. Whether it indicates a rise in youth violence or not,
I couldn't say - But I can personally attest to an incident that can be directly attributed to the ** admin and am glad that at least one violence-prone youth knows **his name. Hearing "Go Bush! USA!" from behind gave my son the flash of time needed to turn a little before being attacked.

He was blind-sided because the anti-war tshirt he was wearing apparently riled a fellow future candidate for cannon fodder beyond his capacity to control himself.

Maybe he thought it was an easy target. Maybe he was looking for bragging rights - "Yeah, man I kicked that peacelovin traitor's ASS." Who knows? Teenagers do some weird things. Add stupidity to the mix and

It didn't turn out exactly as planned - my son was the one able to walk away. Can't say more because we're still within the window of possible repercussions - but I will say, it's a strange and frightening thought that we live in a world where an anti-war statement can evoke a physical attack.
