Did Bush show his true colors on Social Security reform?
Edited on Fri Apr-29-05 10:24 AM by Kansas Wyatt
When asked if Congress were to present him with a plan to make Social Security fiscally solid for the future without including private accounts, Bush actually told America how interested he was in fixing his Social Security crisis.

Bush refused to accept any plan that did not include private accounts. Bush's response to the question proves that he does not give a shit about fixing Social Security for the future, he only wants private accounts and that is all he wants out of it.

Did I not understand his response correctly, or did the MSM and America not zero in on his true intent to not accept a permanent fix for Social Security?

9. Sorry, don't have a link or transcript...
But it was toward the end of the press conference, and Bush was asked if Congress gave him a plan that fixed Social Security without private accounts, would he accept it. He said that it had to include private accounts.

10. Fine, raise the ceiling on FICA contributions to include everyone
...make sure that enough money is available to pay out all SS obligations, then let those who can invest their share of the surplus in private accounts which can be the back-up down the road should another sanctimonious neo-conservative prick jump and and try to ruin everything for everyone again. I'm sorry, but the goal of the neo-con/PNAC people is to cancel the SS safety net, remove all future obligations to pay off SS that they have stolen through the Bush tax cuts and then pirate future generations by exposing them to high risk investments which they can charge outrageous fees for and also manipulate throughout the life of the private account investment.

2. Bush contrasts the difference between
what's important to Americans and America and what's important to him.

"SS is important, solvency is important, being able to pay benefits is important. To you. Private accounts, which actually hurt all those goals, is important to me."

4. Impossible to know.
This slimy piece of evolutionary refuse is incapable of telling the truth (on purpose) about anything. Any use of the word "true" in the context of Bush is a total contradiction.

When he comes close to the truth it is a mental brain fart, commonly referred to as a Bush-ism

7. Haven't the Dems put out different plans for SS
and they were trashed because they weren't conducive to the "get rich off the poor" plan? Or am I just dreaming?

11. His permanent "fix" is to REPLACE.
I think everyone understands this.

And by the way, the "problem" is NOT the 'old people' being scared of their benefits being cut; the 'old people' want to preserve it for future generations. But, hey! They gotta have a scapegoat!

Also, not ONCE, did he ever mention how SS helps to supplement children who have lost a breadwinner, or a disabled worker, or a widow(er). He DID however, start using the "safety net" (must have polled well in Luntzspeak).

The problem with "the hole in the safety net" is he wants to maximize the hole until the net is no longer there.
