I used to find it hard to grasp the mindset of George W. Bush.
But I've finally come to understand the fact that the man is an ignorant, oblivious prick who never heard the words empathy, sympathy, or charity.

The weak, the poor, the unfortunate, maimed and dead soldiers, hunger, heartache, misery, helplessness, hopelessness: all are just abstract words to this man.

This country has gotten what most people (supposedly) voted for. For those of us who voted against him, future, enlightened generations will probably feel pity for us. For those of you who voted for him, they will probably wonder how so many people regressed into the dark ages of history.

I suppose the moral to this era is that for all our pretenses of being civilized, most people are still barbarians.

1. Easy - There's No Mind to Set
Like all other ventriloquist dummies, Bush's head is hollow.

5. Think about a self-centered drunken frat boy who never earned anything
on his own and got everything he's ever had because of Daddy. This frat boy never matures emotionally past the age of 18. That's him.

7. He's easy to figure out. When he looks out and 'sees' his fellow
'murkins, he only sees his rich, fat-cat base. He has never worked a day in his life, has never been solely responsible for his actions, has never seen how the average American family lives, and has never accomplished anything without the financial aid of others.

When he is asked about the economy, he only knows that his CEO contributors have been getting bigger and bigger compensation packages and corporate profits are growing, so he says, "The economy is humming along". Like his dad, I bet someone could ask him what he thinks is the average cost of ______ (milk, beef, a pair of good working shoes, etc) and he wouldn't have a clue.

When he is asked about Iraq, he really doesn't understand the suffering and humiliation our occupation has caused. He's been there once! Flown in secretly to a secure area and flown out again in a couple of hours.

He is arrogant and full of himself. That he thinks he is 'beloved' by God and his RW nut cases is the reason he smirks.

I can honestly say that he is one of the few people on the earth that I truly distrust and detest!!

8. you're right - i don't get it either
some of the time i think that he understands the PNAC's opinion that people are sheep & must be led. that they are doing what is best for we the oblivious, securing "the american way of life" by getting that sweet sweet crude, and that they understand politics enough to know to never ever say it out loud.

some of the time i think that he, ostensibly a born-again christian, must understand the essential message of the new testament: do unto others... but his utter failure to think outside the box, or even to contemplate how jesus, ghandhi, or MLK would deal with islam is beyond me.

most of the time i think he's an asshole dry drunk frat boy who cannot relate to people in any way other than "bustin' your chops" sniping. his inarticulate, unpersuasive speech is evidence of pre-senile dementia, and a fucking embarassment to me as an american citizen. how anyone could feel proud of his presidency is truly beyond me.

11. The arrogant bully is deliberately manipulative, cunning and deceitful
He seems to take great pleasure in his manipulation of the American people and the media to serve his purposes. I think Bill Clinton is flat out wrong in his judgment that Bush is a well-intentioned likeable guy who merely has different beliefs than most Dems.

14. it is a "survivor" mentality
so many of us are working so hard to survive, or stay ahead of our bills (which all seem like necessities, even pop, cigarettes, cell phones and cable TV) that we have no sympathy. But really, to be optimistic, JR has always felt the need to pretend that he has sympathy. Do you remember his acceptance speech, all the programs he promised to fund and expand? He pretends to care about the little people, wanting us to own stock or a piece of America (or claiming to). So he points out that 50% of us own stock while ignoring that 5% of "us" own 98.6% of the stock. It did not help us that our guy was in the Fortune 400, a liberal elite, out there wind-surfing, if there ever was one.
