If the GOP was present in World of Warcraft
The Actual Thread

I was bored in class so I posted this on the WoW forums last night. Anyone who plays the game might get a kick out of it.

So I was sitting in class today and I thought of the most awesome idea for a guild, "The Grand Old Pallys!" or GOP for short.

Check this out, the guild can ONLY be Paladins.

We'll go around smiting the lesser populated races like Nagas and Ogres and fighting liberal groups like THE SCOURGE and the ACLU.

We will also rez people but only if they can pay enough for it, or if they have our res insurance!

Eventually we can have sister guilds called "Palliburton" and "Mastershard" and this is where we can make the money to finance our main guild.

"Mastershard" will go to the newbie zones and lend them like 2 gold so they can buy their starting equipment, then we will lock them into this HUGE interest rate that they can never fully pay off so we will collect gold from them for the lifetime of their character.

Eventually what we will do is make up this story about the Horde having this HUGE weapon that can wipe out Ironforge and get everyone to go to war with them, that's when we form "Palliburton!"

After we get everyone to send their kids from Stormwind and Ironforge over to the horde areas to get slaughtered by Orcs and stuff and we finally take control of the best horde item farming areas, we will launch "Palliburton!"

Palliburton will jump into the best horde farming areas and consistantly farm items to sell on the AH! Once we get enough money we will buy out the ENTIRE AH and inflate the prices a little bit, making even more money!!!!

WE WILL BE RICH!!!!!!!!!!!

Who's in?

I HIGHLY recommend it.

For 15 bucks a month you literally have constant entertainment.

The game is a masterpiece.

And I really like Never winter night. I have never played warcraft though usually I like pen and paper gamming . I would love to start a DU Group of DND though. Last question have you heard of Dragon shard and is it a solo game? I love Eberron.

6. WoW rocks. Although I wouldn't want to be reminded of
RL politics inside the game. There were a couple idiots going around with the name RonaldReagan and SeanConnery for a while, but I think they got 'asked' to change their name.

I had tried other MMORPG games, but WoW had taken things to the next level with quests and stories. You always feel a reason for being there. Unlike some SOE games that made you feel like you were working at a job to get to the next level.

10. computer gaming Question
Hi everyone can you please give an old codger a couple of points of gaming on line? How do you get started and what are the cost? How hard is it for some one with hand tremors? I can't play xbox anymore but the pc is no problem; also thanks to ssdi i can only afford a dial up so is a cable connection mandatory. If you have any links or information please let me know
Also my exp is faily limited to Eberron and Hero System if that helps. I would be greatful to any all information. Danny.

12. WoW...
This game originally cost about $50, (some places have it for less now) and the first month is free. After that you pay $15 a month, well worth it if you play lots of games - I haven't bought anything new since World of Warcraft. The playing field is absolutely huge and there are whole areas of two continents I've never been to yet. Payment is done with a credit card, or you can purchase "game cards" at most gaming stores for $30 that allow you to play for 2 months.

A broadband connection is optimal, but I've *heard* of people playing it with dial up. I can't imagine how that works. There are several quite large required patches that would take a long time with dialup.

System requirements from the box:
Intel Pentium 3 800 Mhz or AMD Athlon 800Mhz processor (this is your general computer speed)
256 MB RAM (this is the memory available to processor, can be upgraded rather easily by you or a computer shop)
32 MB 3D graphics card with Hardware Transform and Lighting, such as an NVIDIA GeForce 2 class card or above. (Once again, an easy upgrade if you don't have it, this is the board that handles 3D realtime graphics)
4x CD-Rom Drive (most CD drives in a computer are faster than this, this is simply to copy the game to your hard drive, once it's installed you don't need the CD's at all)
56k or better internet connection (apparently works with dialup)
4.0 GB available hard drive space (physical space on your hard drive where the game files "live" on your computer...a GB is a gigabyte or 100 MB - megabytes)
DirectX 9.0 (which will upgrade itself if you install the game, usually included)

If your computer was purchased new in the last year or so you probably have most of this.

As far as steady hands, the game can be played entirely with a mouse for movement and clicking on icons on the screen which you can customize the locations of in icon bars. If you can hold down right and left mouse buttons and move the mouse you can play. Of course interacting with other characters requires typing to chat with them, and you can also control the game entirely with keyboard. The game is very flexible.

The main site is www.worldofwarcraft.com if you want to check it out.

15. If cost really is an issue to you
Then you should check out Guild Wars. It is an online game getting rave reviews and it is revolutionary for (among other things) not attaching a monthly fee.

Here is a review by GameSpot: http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/guildwars/review.html
