Consider: 1.Use of religion as a way to manipultae the faithful and ignorant.
2.Use of phantom threats ( a la Reichstag Fire) to seize absolute power and maintain power.
3.Manufacturing news.
4.Selling mortal men as something they are not using time-tested advertising techniques.
5.Coopting the press by threats, bribes and providing "special access" to manufacture news.
6. Turning us all into infants, unquestioning and obedient.
7.Making us doubt the authenticity of our own lives.
