Pastor's supporters leave church, one of them claims
Edited on Wed May-11-05 05:20 PM by G_j
on camera that the others were not kicked out for politics but for cussing and shooting birds (did I hear that right?) in (?) church.

--the above was gleaned from the WLOS NC news report just aired.

before now.

That "pastor" got what he wanted - a divided church. He'll get his round of right wing TV guest spots and start his own church.

He'll be a right wing hero.

Un-freaking-believable!!! :nuke:

Lemme, guess...this person making the claim was younger than 50, right?

17. I knew it.
The people who supported this ass hat are young and INSANE!

There's going to be some really nasty, nasty allegations made against the older members of the congregation--the ones who wanted Chandler gone. His supporters are pissed and desperate. And apparently, they'll say anything to make the others look horrible.

We ain't seen nothing yet.

East Waynesville pastor resigns in wake of controversy

WAYNESVILLE — Pastor Chan Chandler submitted his resignation to the members of East Waynesville Baptist Church on Tuesday, a move some said was the only way to resolve current tensions at the church.

At a meeting at the church, Chandler got up and led those in attendance in prayer, read his resignation and then left the meeting with his wife, Melody, without making any comments to the assembled media, a church member said.

<snip>
Moments after the embattled minister left, a group of his supporters streamed out of the church.

“It’s really sad that all this happened,” a teary-eyed Misty Tucker said before getting in her car. Tucker said she would no longer attend East Waynesville Baptist Church. “I’m not going to serve where there are so many ungodly people.”

..more..

16. CNN aired an actual tape of him booting Dems..
Sounds like that woman is trying to come up with some bogus alibi for him. But then.. GOP woman in church don't lie.. do they? :spray:

Seriously though... they had an actual tape of one of his sermons when he was telling Dem's to hit the road. It was aired on CNN's Inside Politics.

25. Yes.. really.
On Judy Woodruff.

CNN even showed the what the tape looked like. It was on a white plastic cassette, that had "Chan Chandler Sermon" then had the date of the sermon written on it with black marker.

Someone from the church turned it over to authorities. CNN never did say if they record everyone of their sermons on cassette tapes, or if someone in the church started taping Chan purposely.

I don't recall the exact wording of the cassette, but it was DEFINITELY one of his anti-Democrat, anti-Kerry speils.

I'll try to locate the story with the cassette on Google.

30. Here's what Chan Chandler said on tape...
October 3, 2004:

..."If you vote for John Kerry, you need to repent or resign"

Here's one of the news services that talk about the tape: http://www.reflector.com/news/content/shared/news/world/stories/05/09_PARTISAN_CHURCH.html

I found quite a few sites that talked about it..

28. It's sorta' like "gang" behavior,...following the BULLY.
When I'm bullied,...I just might cuss, too. I may even "shoot the bird" *FINGER* at intolerant, self-righteous, control freaks.

Yup. I could do that,...or just leave and go somewhere else.

What's really pretty cool about this story is that someone had the good grace and sense and courage to record the pastor preaching politics!!! In my world, that is a very good sign!!!! :bounce:
